Unable to Burn CD's using iTunes

I've been trying for a couple of hours to burn a playlist onto a CD-R. I click "Burn Disk" on my iTunes screen and I insert a disc. However, all it says in the top bar is "Checking media". Then, it goes back to normal and the burning never occurs. Anyone else have this happen to them? And doesn anyone know how to fix it?

My iTunes is not letting me burn a disk for any of my playlists. I always put a blank cd in and it always cancels the burning with an message saying there is an "error (4450)". I have no idea what this means. I have taken my computer in to get it checked and the people said that I should be able to burn cds. But iTunes won't let me. Could someone please help me figure this out. Thanks!

Well, I called DELL and did the live chat with a technician. After being on the phone for around 2 hours, he downloaded the latest firmware for my driver and said that would solve the itunes conflict. So, we did and it froze. Then restarted the computer and tried again. It downloaded successfully the second time, however, when trying to open the drive... it wouldn't budge. He proceeded to tell me that the firmware had damaged my drive and now I will be unable to use it until they can get a technician to my house to install a new replacement driver. SWEET! I cannot use my driver/burner until next Friday at the earliest. The only good thing I can think of is that since he damaged it, they're sending me a new one that already has all the updates and firmware patches on it so that it will be compatible with itunes, no problems. (or so he says! lol) Call them up and maybe they can damage ur drive as well and you can get a new one! haha 🙂

iTunes does not recognize my CD burner; in fact, it hangs up when I try to burn a CD. I go into Edit>Preferences>Advanced and it hangs up on the Burn tab and must be re-started. I have 2 drives - one reader and the other writes. The reader works fine but the program will not recognize the writer and hangs.

I have reinstalled iTunes. The writer works fine with Roxio and other programs.

After installing update for itunes 7.5.0.2 I cannot burn CD's I also get error message after 2 second it says it is canceling the burn, "unknown error 4450 has occured" I checked preferences and Itunes is recognizing my burner abd I have had no trouble burning from other programs but I can't fix this and I am hoping for a solution that does not require starting over again. I was wondering if restoring my computer to the date prior to updating itunes would be of any help? Has anyone found an answer thank you

Same problem. Create a playlist, highlight it, check 'burn', insert disk with prompt, watch "checking media" flash in the top of the itunes app. forever. Nothing happens. Tried with two disks now but they were the same manufacturer (Staples with printable side). Will go and buy a diff't brand now. Anyone have any luck, otherwise? I'm all apple, all internal drive, 7.5 itunes. 10.4.1. G4. bother!
