o2 usage counter

Just bought an iPhone and due to the tight allowances on the basic Tarrif I need to keep a very close eye on my usage.

Apple saw fit to incorporate a poorly thought out and grossly inadequate counter (which combines incoming and outgoing times with no breakdown and no clues).

AT&T appear to have incorporated a free text on request service with an upto to date tally. However o2 only have a website that is not iPhone friendly and takes a logging plus several slowly loading pages before displaying out of date statistics.

Is there a better way to access this info on o2? When I phoned them they just told me it was my resposibilty to keep my own record. They supply no propper tools or solutions. One could almost suspect that they want you to go over your limit 😉

No, you misunderstood what I said.
I'm on the £35 plan too, and whenever I want to check my usage, I'd just log onto my 02 account at home. Sure, it doesn't give you an up to date figure, but you can remember how much you've used in the past day, can't you? How is a few clicks on a site be considered a hassle?

The suggestion about moving to the £45 plan was only given if you tend to go way over 200mins each month.

Honestly, you are making a mountain out of a molehole.

RDH,

there might be three possible options:

1) a phone number with a computer voice, telling you your balance.
2) a GSM code (like *646# or something similar) to check your status
3) direct acces via internet

3) is a bit of a hassle, 2) and 1) you should check with o2
check more than with one person, they quite often do not know about these things

Blimey, glad someone knows what I'm talking about. Phew, thought I was losing it 😉

Anyway, just got back from o2 shop. They were amazed that this function was missing also. Every phone we looked at had this feature except the iPhone.

Here's a challenge for o2 iPhone users: What's the fewest number of clicks to get to this info from the o2 site on iPhone? Aside from logging in I have to navigate through 6 pages to get to this info. Not really good enough!

I agree that the info on phone usage is not very easy to access. Especially if trying to access the o2 website from your iphone, because safari doesn't store your log in details, you have to log in everytime and sometimes I have trouble with this as I get a log in error.I moved from Tmobile flext to o2 to get an iphone, i used to get weekly text updates from tmobile to let me know how much of my allowance was left and was surprised to find there was no similar facility on o2. Especially as the allowances on the iphone tariff are much tighter even though they cost more. Despite checking on the website and thinking i'd kept within the limit I still went over on text messages which actually soon added up, so I have had to change to the mid tariff despite having loads of call time left over - after pricing it out this seemed a better option than adding a bolt on of texts. It's a shame o2 don't do a flexible allowance to use for calls or texts, whichever you use most.

I find the lack of sent and received items not on the iPhone on my conscience too. My old Nokia had the number of sent texts and all the rest. I know you can log onto the O2 website to check what you've used but I can only remember findingthat page once through all the menus, and have never found that same webpage since that states how many texts or calls i've made each month. I just have to wait for my bill online to see if i've went over my limit.

haha i had the same problem! they changed the bloody layout of the site!

just login , then click "view my bill" on the left, then click "online bill" in the middle, then click "recent charges" on the left , then "Inclusive allowance details" on middle bottom,

then the table that shows

available this month used to date remaining this month

will come up 😀
