iTunes not Syncing

Suddenly iTunes says it's syncing, but nothing happens. The phone just goes back to charging mode, and iTunes is just stuck on the "Syncing Phone" part. If I cancel, iTunes just gets stuck on "Canceling Sync".
Any help thoughts?

I agree. I'm interested in knowing what happened because i was able to sync with Leopard a week and a half ago but only when I tried last night I came across this issue. There must have been some automatic update that created some kind of conflict.

Just like the automatic security update a year ago made my old wireless router useless forcing me to buy an Apple router. (still no fix for old linksys routers fyi...)

Don't waste time trying to reset your iSync files or changing any settings. It's a problem at Apple's end.

I turned off my Internet connection, and the iPhone synced without any issues, just like it would normally. The moment I turned on the Internet connection, it wouldn't sync again.

So many people can't possible all mess up their system/backup files at the same time.

Hope that helps.

I've found something that works for me repeatedly: The problem exists when the iPhone is connected to the USB port, when iTunes is not already opened, i.e. iTunes opens, as auto sync is ticked, but the sync hangs up. What I did was to force a quit of iTunes, leaving the iPhone connected, and then restarted iTunes, whereupon the sync works fine.

This is very strange as I've been syncing the first way since I got the phone, with no problems, until yesterday, Dec. 27, when the problem started, for me, and for everyone else it seems. What on earth could this suddenly be due to? Have Apple changed something, and if so, how could this affect the syncing process when I'm using a version of iTunes I downloaded on Nov 10, and haven't reinstalled since then?

Thanks, but I don't use iCal. I doubt it is iCal's problem anyway, as Windows iTunes users are also having the same problem, and they obviously don't have iCal.

Think I'll stick to my methods for now: either disable the internet (as suggested by someone else), or start iTunes manually when iPhone is connected to the Mac.

I could not sync this morning for the first time since I got the phone. I disabled airport (on my mac, not on the iphone btw), force-quit iTunes, and restarted. Nothing more, nothing less, and it synced when I re-opened iTunes. As soon as the sync started, I turned airport on and it continued to sync fine. Something must have changed - this is too much of a coincidence. I see a security update that my mac wants to install, but I haven't yet - I don't think I've had any other recent updates.
