Display ripples while scrolling web pages

Hello,

While using the trackpad to scroll down a web page, my MBP gets ripples on the display. I looked at the activity Monitor while doing this and it never went passed 60% used. I have 2g of RAM with the 2.2ghz processor. Is this normal??

Thanks in adv.

I also have this problem! I am using fire fox at the moment and it isn't doing it anymore.I really like Safari but can't stand the ripples. It seems the only application it does it in is Safari.

I was wondering what I should do if I am still having problems after the update. I received this computer on September 2, as a replacement for my other MBP that was much worse. I waited patiently for the update. Now, running on 10.5.5, I still have scrolling distortion and my 3d rendering programs are actually worse after the update. I have noticed an improvement with web browsing on a whole but the content is still consistently horizontally rippled when I use the scroll bar and sometimes the web page content will be completely scrambled in static state. When I am working on 3d models with animation, view panning or orbit viewing, my content does not flow smoothly on the screen, there are gitters and jumps when it should be a smooth transition from one view to another. There are black and white vertical flickers when I move through views or rotate my objects.

I have also had to restart this computer after the update several times because my screen will either go dark and not respond to brightness control commands even though it is still on or I will get alternating dark banning rays from the bottom of the screen. I know there is another thread for these issues but the screen graphics glitch was my first known issue. Could these two things be related?

Count me in!

MB Pro 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GEFORCE 8600
OS 10.5.5

I purchased my MB Pro used, and noticed this problem right away while scrolling on Firefox pages. I'm taking it in to Apple tomorrow as it's under warranty. Other issues I'm having: Random freezes, boots only to the Apple logo and I have to restart to get it to boot correctly, failed to do an erase and install and I had to retry, laptop told me no trackpad was installed, and more! New logic board, please!

Since I mentioned my display ripple issue on this thread, I thought it was only fair to acknowledge that the 10.5.5 update corrected the problem. This was the one and only annoying issue with the machine. I'm very relieved that the issue has been resolved. Though, I wish Apple would post more details. Did they turn some sort of Quartz acceleration off, or was the issue truly fixed through a driver update, etc?

Today I just started to have what look like "explosions" or "shards" of graphics appear on the screen of my MBP. This just started this morning! The thing was just fine last night, but now these fragments of bright colors appear on the screen, especially when using Expose or moving from one app to another.

My instincts tell me to go to the local Genius bar. This is a first generation MBP that was manufactured in winter 2006.

Along with others, I had hoped that 10.5.5 had resolved the issue.

Although I am no longer seeing the issue, a genius in London has confirmed that 10.5.5 has not officially resolved the issue, and is advising me to have the logic board replaced.

So anyone else in that boat, it sounds like - despite positive appearances - it may still be worth getting the logic board swapped.

I did some things recommended on other forums -- I verified permissions, which should be done pretty regularly anyway. I also turned the computer off, disconnected the power supply removed the battery and then held the power button down for 5 seconds. After I booted back up, I haven't seen the "broken graphics" since, but I am still keepng a close eye on this thing, as I have about 6 more months of AppleCare and can renew again.
