Bubbles under the glass???

I have an 4gb iPhone that I got at the launch of the phone that has bubbles that are appearing under the glass now.

I have 5 bubbles thus far and more as showing up as the days go on. I can't find any reference to these on apple's site but I am seeing quite a few people talk about it when searching google.

Is this something apple will take care of at the Apple Store and replace the phone?

This is not due to any abuse, it's just a fault of manufacturing or something.

What's the deal here?

The bubbles appeared on my 8GB iPhone too. It was promptly replaced, under warranty, at the Apple store.

The genius described the problem being "burst" pixels in the screen - he examined the screen with a scope like a Doctor would use to examine your ears.

Is it okay that my phone is so old though? I know it's not because of abuse. But I am afraid that I am going to be out of luck just because I was an early adopter.

How old was your phone when you brought it in?

I am current w/ my AT&T contract, etc. If that matters.

I have the same issue and I'm going to be taking my phone in tomorrow (Saturday, January 19, 2008) to see if I can get it fixed. Here's two images of my bubbles:

Did Apple replace it? I bought 2 iphones on launch day and one now has two bubbles in the screen. I swear they have just shown up.
Has anyone noticed more showing up as time passes? Not sure if it warrants a replacement yet, (hate to see an working product get thrown away) but want to act before the warranty ends if it is gonna get worse.

Yes I have a 4GB bought it in July 07 .. And just yesterday i noticed one bubble it doest bother me at all !! But i was wondering if i go to the APPLE Store will i get a new one .. It has a Dent on the top near the headphone jack.. Maybe they wont give me a new cause of that .. And the drive to a apple store is like a hour away !!

I have the exact same problem. I just noticed the three bubbles in the top right corner of the screen. It may be my imagination, but I think there were just two the other day, now there are three, and they might be getting larger.

I would sure like to know what Apple says about this and whether I can get a new iPhone.

I just saw a bubble on mine also my screen has like screen burn i get this yellowish spot on my screen. .I was wondering i have some dents on my iphone nothing big and normal scratches on my back cover.,. will they still trade it.. Cause i dont want to drive a hour aways for nothing!!

UPDATE !!! ONE MORE THING I BOUGHT IT FROM ATT !! WOULDI HAVE ANY PROBLEMS TAKING IT TO APPLE STORE!

Hi all,

I just bought mine iPhone few weeks ago, it has the newer LCD (version 7520768) and it manufactured on week 52.
What do you think? Is my iPhone in bubble-danger?

Interesting...I recall 2 bubbles under the glass that just appeared one day with the original iPhone I purchased in November. I've since gotten 2 more and replaced the sim, but that's another story on another post.

I never really thought too much about the bubbles and the guys at Genius didn't even mention them. I take great care of my phone...kinda like the egg project way back in school...I never dropped it and was always very careful.

I have been ignoring my one bubble in top left by signal bars, but now he has a little baby bubble and I think I need to exchange. Should I wait for a few weeks to see if I get a new 3G version?! BTW, I bought in December - seems like after about 5 or 6 months a lot of people are getting bubbles. I hope I can get a 3G out of this if I wait - although they probably keep some refurb old models on hand for this occasion...thoughts?

Not much you can do. If you live in Italy you're using a hacked iPhone. Your warranty is void. Sorry.

You can buy an iPhone 3G when it's legitimately released in Italy in the next month or so.
