Bubbles under the glass???

I have an 4gb iPhone that I got at the launch of the phone that has bubbles that are appearing under the glass now.

I have 5 bubbles thus far and more as showing up as the days go on. I can't find any reference to these on apple's site but I am seeing quite a few people talk about it when searching google.

Is this something apple will take care of at the Apple Store and replace the phone?

This is not due to any abuse, it's just a fault of manufacturing or something.

What's the deal here?

The bubbles appeared on my 8GB iPhone too. It was promptly replaced, under warranty, at the Apple store.

The genius described the problem being "burst" pixels in the screen - he examined the screen with a scope like a Doctor would use to examine your ears.

Just had mine replaced the other day, they took it in the back to 'examine more closely' which means they wanted to check for water-damage warranty voiding under the headphone jack.

I was there probably 10-15 minutes, signed the thing and walked out with a new activated phone so I could at least use it if I had to, I went right home though to sync to the backup I did just prior to going there to have it replaced as I knew that would be the case.

I just had one bubble that was only easily visible on white web-pages or video.

Anyway, I now have to tackle the defective SuperDrive repair and dying/stuck LCD pixels on my BlackBook in the next few days.

WOW!! and I thought I was the only one with this problem!! I even searched this very topic about 3 weeks ago and nothing?!?! I guess it's now becoming a bigger problem. My phone was a release day purchase...fyi.

I took my phone into an Apple store in the MD/DC area and waited on standby to meet with a Genius. He said he'd never seen a problem like this (my bubbles were VERY similar in placement and size to the posting above), they passed it around to each other...and eventually I walked out with a new phone!

No problems since and I think this battery is even better?!!?

I've had these bubbles on both the upper left and right of screen. 8gb iPhone.

And the phone died today. The screen became unresponsive. But on the lower half of the screen.

I have an appointment in the morning at the Apple Store to have get a replacement.

So funny. The iPhone went nuts today. Screen would just open apps. Not unlock. Then not lock. Icons go into jiggle mode. Stop. Open random apps. Not work at all. It was crazy.

Called Applecare. We restored it. And that's when I couldn't slide it open. So he set up the appointment.

Using a backup 4gb now.

I've had this problem since September, a week after I bought it. I never got around to taking it in, but I guess I will seeing that now it's become more persistent and I know for a fact Apple will repair/replace it for me.

Thread I made: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1133874&tstart=0

And it's even getting uglier. I'll let you guys know how they deal with it.

i noticed this problem back in October 07 with a bubble under the AT&T icon. i took my iPhone in and they would not replace it. a month later i noticed my phone was freezing every time i would answer a call. i don't think the items are related, but it was my opportunity to get a replacement iPhone.

two days ago i notice a bubble near the battery icon. i'd like to take it back but wondering if i'm going to get the same "doesn't seem to be a problem, if it gets worse, bring it back".

A couple of days ago I wrote that I had three bubbles. Now I have four. I took my iPhone to our local Apple store, but they told me they were just a service outlet and could do nothing for me. The suggested that I send my iPhone back to Apple, and I would get something back in about a week. But I can't be without my iPhone for a week, and especially when they can give me no assurance of what they will do for me, even if I do send it in. Now what?
