iTunes 7.6 No Audio When Playing a Music Video or Movie

I just installed iTunes 7.6.0.29 (It was released today).

There is no audio when playing a music video or a movie that I've purchased. Movie trailers and music videos in the iTunes store have no audio either. Videos from iTunes University that I've downloaded (such as an MIT lecture) play fine w/ audio.

Music audio (such as tracks I've purchased or tracks on the iTunes store) play fine.

QuickTime videos, such as a QT video on my desktop play fine. Windows Media Player works fine too.

So, why don't music videos and movies play (w/audio) on iTunes 7.6??

Dell XPS, Windows XP

I had this same issue.....upgraded to 7.6...no audio when previewing movies....wrote to apple, they said remove and install the standalone quicktime....didn't help...i removed and reinstalled itunes...didn't work..they said they were working on it and would get back to me....that was yesterday...realized today that all my stuff that i already had i also couldn't hear on videos....music worked fine, but no sound on videos....found a site that had 7.5:

http://www.soft82.com/get/version/download/windows/itunes-7-5/

removed itunes and quicktime and installed 7.5...kept getting the error that said "iTunes Library.itl" was created by a newer version and it wouldn't open....did a search, and found this string and linked to this article:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93732

once it said the library was just for playlists and other stuff and only used for iTunes i decided to delete every one that was in my computer.....7.5 was then able to open....of course my library was empty....i then went to file/add file to library and selected my music....it's having to add everything that i had....(and it's still in process as i'm typing)...but i'm hopeful that this is working!!!

Just finished and it worked....i have audio back on my videos!!!! Sticking with 7.5!!!!

This was the feedback message I sent to iTunes. Not that it will do any good, but I hate the idea that Apple doesn't seem to care about their clients (and that's what we are after all) and problems with their software. If we were all employees of the same company and had the same issue with more money being involved this issue would have been resolved long ago. Anyway, here it is. Maybe more people will send feedback and they'll get the hint.

*+I cannot access the iTunes store to download any music. I have about three TV shows and two albums I have already purchased that have yet to download because the server connection keeps timing out. I have checked the forums and there is a mass of people having the same difficulty. However, the issue becomes a problem when I see on the forums that there were several people that have contacte iTunes Support via telephone and they are told that there is a problem with their hardware/software or computer. The main issue that most tech support personnel don't realize is that most of the people on the forums and in today's society are more educated in computers than they used to be. It would behoove you to make a statement, e-mail, or some other type of announcement to the general iTunes community that there is a problem with the new software that was downloaded rather than shrugging off that it's the user's fault and problem to deal with. I say this since it was in the forums that I found out how to correct the issue with a sound error due to the problem with the newest edition of Quicktime that was bundled with the latest edition of iTunes. For that matter, I didn't have a problem in the world with purchasing or downloading anything from iTunes until I downloaded the newest edition of iTunes. Take a look on the forums and you'll see that it was the catalyst for all of the problems that people are having now. I would like to know when I can expect to have the rest of my downloads available and when iTunes back up and running. Right now I'm extremely likely to recommend iTunes to other people, but depending on this issue and its resolution that may change drastically. Thank you for your time and help in this matter.+*

In regards to watching iTunes rental movies and watching previews on my wind XP machine: I STILL do not have sound, after re-installing QuickTime, version 7.31 and 7.4, after rolling back iTunes *(rental movies will only play on 7.6 at least on WIN XP)* and after installing K-Lite Codec and attempting to tweak the codec.

Asked for a refund, got a letter stating that my payment was processing and would have to wait.

+As for this WINDOWS XP USER, I will simply wait for the next update+, can’t waste anymore time. I’ll check the previews first (I wish I had done so before hand)

Will check back. SJ- Give it up!
