iPhone stuck in "headphones" mode

Tried methods above like Q-Tip, re-set, blowing - still stuck in headphone mode. But my iPhone mysteriously worked correctly (and got out of "headphone" mode) after backing it up to my computer and installing the software update that happened to be around. Perhaps it the software update was like wiping it and restoring. Very random. Or perhaps it dried out enough in the 20 min. it took to backup and install the OS update. Anyway, very happy! Disaster averted!

Simply go into setting then sounds and in your alarm tones just change the tone. It will instantly take out of head phone mode. No need for in and out or compressed air. I've read a few that had lint in there, but as long as it's clean in the hole, just change alarm tones with no ear buds attached. I tried all the other options none worked. But this worked great and quick.

If you suspect that water is the reason behind your problem.. Instead of plugging and unplugging your ear phones, you can swirl a piece of paper into very thin one and push it in it headphones hole. Make sure you are using a big piece of paper not very small piece(which might stuck in the headphones hole).. That will remove any wetness in there. This worked for me.

I did all these fixes, and they were good advice for others, but they didn't work for me. What I did was I left my headphones in overnight (i plugged the phone in) while my Alarm Clock app was running, hoping I'd hear the buzzer through my headphones. I did, and when I took them out, the speaker worked again.

This worked, I can't believe it. I tried everything else and it had sat for hours in front of an AC vent as well as a hair dryer. My iPhone 6 got creek water in it and I thought the headphone jack was permanently messed up. I tried sucking on it but it didn't work, so I took a tip from someone else in this thread and used my shop vac. It cured it almost instantly, within a few seconds. Just put the attachment over the headphone jack and turned on the vac. Thank you!!!!!

I have been spending hours and hours trying all of these solutions (blowing cold hair, using a flash light and q-tip ext.) and non of them worked. What most likely happened is that a rain drop (or any water) got into your phone and it's knoe set to headphone mode. I put my phone in rice for about an hour and as soon as I took it out... it worked. Just make sure that after you take it out of the dry rice you shake out any pieces of rice that got into your charger hole or headphone hole.

I tried everything from sucking on the jack to using a q-tip, even putting my phone in rice overnight nothing worked. So I tried something myself I plugged my headphones out turned my phone off and turned the ringer off at the same time and it worked!!!! Try this if nothing else is working.

But 1 minute in the fridge.... and all fixed!!

Push & pull does not work.

Sucked the earplug inlet in the vacuum clearner inlet for one minute.

It works.

Okay I've tried sucking the jack out and it works.. You need the suck it out hard if can try vacuuming the jack out with a very strong vacuum level.. If not then only way is to suck it out hard..

Had the same problem i dropped my phone into snow today, but it worked only after i used the hair dryer, over the jack slot and on the upper back of the phone. So don't forget the hair dryer!

As funny as this sounds, sucking works! Tried everything too before this. Thanks!
