Classic Firmware 1.1: What's new?

Just downloaded Firmware Version 1.1. The minor issues I had (mainly sorting of Coverflow) remain... The cover-flow images seem a bit larger, but I might just be paranoid.

Anybody else notice something different???

I actually cannot get it to downgrade.
I've tried everything.
Even when I click on 'Don't Check', the next window I get says
'You have chosen not to contact the iPod software update server.
Would you like to restore using the same version as your iPod has now (version 1.1) instead?'
I then can either click on 'Use Same Version' which just updates it with 1.1 again or 'Cancel' which just cancels the whole update thing.
This is so frustrating! I just want my ROBI to work again!

A further thought - if the message box appears again (about not being connected to the internet), can you try just closing it, without clicking either "cancel" or the alternative box?

It sounds as though you are almost there, and closing the message box should default to restoring without installing v1.1.

Post again and let us know how you get on.

I, like many others, are having issues with the new firmware. When I turn off my 80G classic manually, it produces a hiss. Letting it go to sleep on it's own does not cause the hiss. What's worse, after reading this article, I realized that the hum may have destroyed the apple headphones that came with my iPod, as they started buzzing shortly after I updated my firmware. Bad hearing or lucky?

Strangely enough, I have not experienced any hiss or crackle problems after the firmware update, neither with the standard IEM's, the Radio Remote nor through a headphone amp. I also tried it out with other earphones. I am not really a hard-core iPod fan, having other DAP's which I prefer soundwise. I must mention that I have bought my Classic 80GB only one week ago. Maybe things have already improved?

iPod Classic 160gb (black) here.

Little shocked at such a large jump in updates, from 1.0.3 to 1.1.

Installation went fine, no need to reload anything. Preferences still remained for me. No problems with static noise when iPod is off. Coverflow artwork do seem a little bigger. Noticed a couple of extra options in the Video settings.

A little disappointed that for such a large update, there wasn't more obvious changes, but meh, can't complain, it's free and my iPod continues to work
