Error 5002

Every time I try opening my iTunes store I get "Error 5002" Does anyone know what this is about and what can I do?

Thank you.

Hi, I'm glad to know that you were able to solve your problem. Could you please give me the number that you called so that they could clear your shopping cart please? It seems that I am going to have no choice but to clear it out too. Also thanks for the tip on the wish list. I think from now one I'll be doing that. It is a shame because like someone has previously said I can't remember much of what was on my shopping cart =(.

I can connect to the iTunes Store and browse but cannot open my Shopping Cart to make a purchase during the past 48 hours. I upgraded to iTunes 7.6 when it became available. Wednesday added the free iTunes singles for the week to my cart. When I went to the cart I received a screen with new Terms, clicked the button to agree, which took me to a page where I clicked "Done" which took me back around to the Terms page and so forth in an infinite loop. Since then I keep getting this Error 5002. I've quit and relaunched iTunes a few times. I've rebooted the iMac a couple times. I followed the steps for Error 5000 in the FAQ and did a Get Info to reset permissions. Also tried the Terminal procedure for the same. Went through Disk Utility to repair drive permissions. Restarted with the system disk to Repair the drive. I logged out of my iTunes account and then logged in again and checked the account info. Ran OnyX to clean up the sludge. None of these steps has had any effect.

Hi. I contacted Apple iTunes support by email through this link: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/. The category I chose was "connection," and the sub-category I chose was "I receive an error message..."

I commented that "I receive the following message when attempting to open my shopping cart: "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (5002)."

They replied, "The error you are experiencing is probably due to one of the items in your cart, or the number of items in your cart...
...Should you continue to experience an issue with your shopping cart, please reply to this email with permission to clear your cart."

The entire process took a little over a day from my submitting the support email, to resolution of the issue.

A note about the wishlist. You cannot save albums, only songs by dragging directly from the iTunes Store.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have the same issue, shopping cart reporting a 5002 error. I have emailed Apple requesting that they clear my cart and if possible sending me a list of what was in it.

Silly me has a wish list too... why did I stop using it? Three reasons... 1. The issue with not being able to easily manage albums in it and 2. I have like 100 songs in there waiting to be purchased and 3. It is so much easier to just say add to cart.

Had the same problem as listed here. I logged on to my Apple account on iTunes and it said that I did not have a validly listed US address. My address was all correct. But Apple had my state code abbreviated: in my case, "UT". I went and selected from the dropdown menu, "UT - UTAH" and it accepted it and works fine now. Seems like some glitch on Apple's end that reset the state code...
