Syncing between my MAC and RAZR V3

I recently got one of those Motorola RAZR V3 phones and tried to use iSync with it. It finds the phone OK, and does a sync but it deletes the entries in the datebook on the phone! It's rather annoying and I can't seem to get iCal insync with the datebook. All the appointment are just getting deleted and stored in iCal.

Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong or is that just the way it works with that phone?

Thanks,
Tom.

Robert, I have no problem having multiple new phone numbers being copied from my Razr to the address book. In fact, just to make sure, I just added to new numbers on my phone, did an iSync and the new entries went to my address book. I then deleted the two test cases from the address book, did another iSync, and both disappeared from the phone correctly.

I suggest that you check all your preferences to make sure you don't have something set up incorrectly.

Jerry,

hello and thank you for the response. I'll check the preferences in iSync but what about the Razr? Are there preferences to set up on the phone too? All i did was set the phone up to communicate with the computer, which it does. It receives contacts from address book perfectly. Is there something I'm suppose to set up on the Razr to make the phone SEND contacts?

I looked in the manual of the Razr and it only mentions sending data to another device/computer by selecting the contact in the address book and choosing SEND, you then choose the device/computer you want to send to from a list that shows up on the Razr. This is brutal because you have to do one contact at a time.

In iSync, if i double click on the Razr icon to see the syncing preferences for that device i see a "Turn on Motorola Phone synchronization", this is set to the ON state. I then have the CONTACTS set to the ON state as well as CALENDARS.

I'm not sure what else to try.

EDIT: Figured it out. It seems that the solution was to copy all contacts to the PHONES MEMORY. I had all my contacts on the SIM CARD MEMORY, so apparently, the Razr or iSync wont send (if the problem lies with the Razr) or sync (if the problem lies with iSync) contacts if they reside on the SIM CARD. This is sort of a bummer since the SIM CARD is designed to hold all contacts so you can transport your contacts from one phone to another. Seems like an oversight on either apple or Motorola's part. Anyway, its solved.

Thanks Jerry for your time.

Robert.

It seems to work fine now, thanks for checking.

is this a well known issue? not being able to sync from a SIM? it wasn't documented anywhere in the manual which seems strange. seems like it would be mentioned up front in the Razr manual or in the iSync help (if the problem is with iSync not being able to read the SIM).

thanks and have a good weekend.

Hi Folks:

Just upgraded from an older 15" PowerBook to the latest 17" PowerBook and I'm wondering if anyone else is having an issue with iSync's menu bar.

Things are working well via Bluetooth on the new machine, except that if I choose to sync from the menu bar (instead of actually aunching iSync) the phone doesn't actually sync. I noticed that .Mac is the only item in the menu bar drop down so I'm assuming something is buggered up. I have re-paired the phone, toggled the menu bar option and all that good stuff and I still can't get it to work. Anyone else having this issue? If you solved it, how?

Thanks in advance for the info...

-Jeff
