Should I buy a MacBook now or wait?

Speculation about new products is not allowed per the terms of use. That said if you wait because something new may come out you will never buy one. If you need one now buy one if you can wait till the next model comes out wait. Problem is as soon as it comes out there will be another one down the road. I bought mine in 2006 and there have now been 4 MacBooks models including mine. I am not sad at all I got one when I did. It is a great little computer and adding a new hard drive made it as good as new.

The newest Macbook updates were just released in November. They are pretty sweet, I'd make the jump.

i bought a brand-new macbook today because my imac G5 kinda crashed on me. it was short-circuiting on me and instead of staying on sleep mode, it shut down. luckily, i didn't loose all my stuff.

I have a MacBook (late 2006). I've bought it when new models (2.0Ghz > 1.83 Ghz, 512Mb > 1Gb, and 60Gb HD > 80gb HD) were on the stores.
I'm really happy with it. Don't think 'if', If you like the actual models, just buy which you like and fits your interests.
Rumours are always on the Internet, and A LOT will never be true. So, just think today what you like and need.
A MacBook is a lovely machine!.

I asked this question this morning (and also got told off!).
I'm always unlucky with my timing (but that's another story!) so because I'm not absolutely desperate at the moment will probably wait until the next upgrade, whatever that might be.

I am getting my refurb black macbook 2.2 in 2 days....
I too was reticent but after waiting way too long, I am taking the plunge.

Just keep in mind that usually Apple has a fixed release cycle. Once during middle of the year and end of the year. Sometimes it's in the beginning of the year when WWDC happens. However, this year, it was the introduction of the new MacBook Air.

Remember that this usually is subjected to change.

The new Macbooks look very nice but i'm waiting for a Macbook with an LED display. Tired of laptops that dim over time. Hopefully the Macbook will include an LED display later this year.

Yep. My bro has one of the MBPs with the LED display. He also has a 1st gen black MB. The difference in the screens is dramatic.
