PocketMac GoBetween for Lotus Notes

PocketMac has released PocketMac GoBetween for Lotus Notes, an iSync add-on which allows users to synchronize contacts between the Address Book and Lotus Notes, and events and tasks between iCal and Lotus notes.

While bidirectional synchronization is standard, selectable options allow users to overwrite data in one environment or the other, ignore completed tasks or tasks older than a user selectable value, and to determine which data types will be synchronized. If you are familiar with e2Sync as an extension of iSync for Entourage users, you will find the interface of PocketMac GoBetween for Lotus Notes familiar.

Pricing is set at $ 24.95 and a copy can be ordered at the PocketMac page linked above.

I bought it two weeks ago. I get "failed to start Lotus Notes server"
The PMSystemreport has plenty of this message "GetMutablePreferencesStorageForContextDescription - bad context description."

and also several of this:

GoBetweenLNISync[285]: * NSTask: Task create for path '/Applications/Notes.app/Contents/MacOS/LNDOServer' failed: 86, "Bad CPU type in executable". Terminating temporary process.

Nobody answer the posted cases. I could only talk to an answer machine. Phone support is out of bound$.

I've tried with Lotus Notes 7.0.3 local database and names.nsf

I'll wait.

Content: Hello Michael,

Could you please go to:
Open Lotus Notes --> LotusNotes Menu --> Preferences --> Client Reconfiguration Wizard

and setup a mail server, regardless of whether you use real mail server information?

This should help the connection to calendar.

Please let us know if this helps or not.

===================

Seems to clear the PW problem, am still getting an error:
t took a very long to try the Sync, I then received the following Warning:

An unexpected error has occurred: PMDate::weekofMonth: bad day of month
An unexpected error has occurred: PMDate::weekofMonth: bad day of month

And there are still no entries in iCal. We shall see soon.. I am starting to get excited. Can't wait for this to work!!

Same error as I get.
It seems, that the problem is the international (german) format of date/time values in Notes. Dates are stored as dd.mm.yyyy.
If day <= 12 and month <= 31 (or 30), i. e. 6th March, GoBetween interchanges the day value with the month value and stores the appointment at 3rd June. If day is greater than 12, the "correspondin"g month value is invalid and an error occured.

I've posted this explanation to PocketMac's support site on March 02, 2008. No response until today!

New! Fixed my contact and calendar sync problems

This won't work for everyone, but I think I have finally fixed my problems with synching contacts and calendars.

Context: A Mac G4 desktop at work, a MacBookPro at home, a .mac account, and an iPhone. After upgrading both computers to 10.5.2, my problems began. All my contacts would be replaced whenever I booted either computer -- like a ping pong ball going back and forth. The same things happened with large parts, but not all, of my calendars. My contacts were unable to retain images, AIM addresses, or groups. No amount of resetting data in System Preferences, unregistering, etc. helped at all. On occasion, iSync would open on its own, even though I have no device that uses iSynch. And I had Conflict Resolver appear but not display any conflicts to be resolved.

Solution: On my work G4 I made sure the calendar and contact data were correct. Then, despite the fact that I have no device that uses iSync, I opened iSync, when to iSync preferences, and clicked the "Reset Sync History" button. Soon a dialog box appeared asking me which data to use. I responded to use the data on the computer and replace the .mac data. At home, I immediately launched iSync and click on the "Reset Sync History" button. With the subsequent sync, I replaced the data on my home MacBookPro with the data on .mac.

It's been three days now and I've had no further problems with syching. My contacts have retained groups, images, and AIM addresses. The calendar events are accurate on both computers with no conflicts to resolve or items to be replaced.

I think the "Reset Sync History" button in iSync preferences is different than "reset data" on the System Preferences panel and that has made all the difference -- for me at least.

Well, I'll have to eat my words. After four days off for Spring Break, the sync process has gone awry again. It's back to ping-pong -- replace the calendars and contacts when I get home and find the same thing happening when I get to work. I can think of nothing I did to cause this change. I guess I should just be happy that it worked for a few days.
