I can log into i-tunes with my i-tunes id and password but when i attempt to purchase a movie on apple tv i get the message "unable to sign in-the apple id you entered couldn't be found or your password was incorrect" Not AOl e-mail address related. Resetting/Rebooting and changing account state setting not effective.
Four days ago apple tech indicates: Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.
So far no further info. Anybody with similar experience/solution?
Is it connected to the iMac via Ethernet and the iMac connected wirelessly to a router? Or is it connected wirelessly to the iMac and the iMac connected to a router via Ethernet? Can you connect it straight to a router and do you know how the router is setup?
Same problem...ATV will not accept itunes password, so I'm unable to purchase from ATV. Also, while I have sucessfully synced some TV shows I purchased o my imac, ATV will not play these; it says not authorized.
For the itunes password problem, I have tried every variation of my user name and password.
For the authorization problem, I have tried deauthorizing content and resyncing with ATV.
NO JOY HERE.
I will try some of the hairbrain ideas floated on this thread...one would think Church would have the answer...what's going on fat man?
Hi
I've been sitting here for 2 days trying to solve the problem. Tried all kind of solutions found in this forum. Nothing worked ...
... until I tried your advice N°2. It solved the Problem for me.
I unplugged my ATV, deauthorized itunes store an logged out.
Authorized and logged in again, switched ATV back in and it worked.
Eureka!!
Thanks m8!
Thank you skyindigo! Following your suggestion I unplugged ATV then deauthorized my computer at I Tunes, then reauthorized the computer then plugged back in ATV and now password problem is solved and U Tube works You saved me days of work
Like everyone else here, I tried all the possible solutions to no avail--and Apple Support was no help either. And then I tried turning off WPA security--it worked then. So, for those of you who haven't tried that yet, do so. Turn off WPA, login via ATV, and then turn WPA back on. This is what ultimately worked for me... for now ....

Thanks. I was on hold with Apple while reading your post, and, being the approx. wait time was 15 minutes, I figured I had time to try this.
It solved me problem. Now I can rent from Apple TV with my iTunes account with no problems.
Same here. I've got the ATV 3 days ago, and since then the only thing that works is playing music (not purchased), seeing pictures and watching previews. Can't see or listen to anything that was purchased via iTunes, nor rent or buy any movies. Which, supposedly, is the whole point of ATV (and a big selling point at the Aplle Store).
I went back to the store and they replaced the ATV but it was no use. I called tech support and, after going through everything that was already at ATV's support webpage -- which, of course, I had already done --, I was asked to call back in a couple of days so that they could have a "product specialist" help me.
Just waiting to call after the weekend and see if they come up with anything new, will keep you guis posted. In the meantime, there's always good and old Netflix...
Could you tell me how you accessed this info. about your router on your computer? This is been a hassle to say the least but would like to try your solution. Thanks....Gary
For me the solution was to reset the ATV (factory settings) and then I choose not to connect to iTunes via a computer. So, when the code comes up for you to enter it in your iTunes on your computer, just press the menu button (on ATV) to bypass that step. Then go to settings on the ATV, then login to iTunes there (Directly in ATV). At that point I was able to login and could rent movies and buy TV shows. Then I added the computer connection to ATV and I was able to play content I had purchased before.
