Increase in OTHER space on iPhone after iTunes 7.6.1 upgrade
I downloaded the iTunes 7.6.1 upgrade and after connecting my iPhone I find it has a lot more space used in the OTHER category. I don't think I have very much in mail, SMS, or Notes. Calendars haven't changed but maybe taking up space. It was fine a few days ago (at most) before the upgrade. Any ideas? iPhone v 1.1.3

This is interesting, the possibility that syncing problems are causing the large OTHER space. I've been using my powered USB for some time with my iPhone quite successfully. I believe some USB 2.0 hubs drop to USB 1.x if any of the attached devices are USB 1.x. My hub may be one of those. Recently, I've updated to iTunes 7.6.1 but also recently purchased a TomTom navigation device. I have been exploring it quite a bit recently, connecting and disconnecting through the same hub. This could well have been at the same time as I was trying to sync my iPhone. This could be the problem. I'm not sure if the TomTom is USB 1.x or 2.0 (probably 2.0) but the extra load might be an issue. Thank you for this suggestion.
I've solved this problem, work around, by connecting the iPhone directly to a USB port on the front of the computer. This has worked properly for some time now. With a new computer I will rethink the connection. Quite possibly one of the devices on the powered hub was USB 1.1 which caused all to be USB 1.1.
I just encountered the same issue, albeit my "other" now accounts for 5.71GB. The phone's directly connected to my laptop's USB port. Trying a restore to see if that fixes it....
