I have a brand new MBP and have noticed something strange when scrolling using the trackpad (two finger gesture)...when scrolling in Safari text will become distorted. For example, on this board here, if I scroll the page using the trackpad, some lines of text will become distorted and almost unreadable. If I scroll past it and then return, sometimes the text returns to normal. Anyway, it happens a lot but only when scrolling using the trackpad. If I use the arrow keys I do not have this problem. Anyone else see this? If not, can you give it a test and report back?
A cautious "all good" here following the 10.5.5 update....no battery run text rippling on Safari, no block flashing with safari quicktime or iphoto for 3-4 days heavy use. Any similar feedback from the afflicted who have 10.5.5'd??
I've noticed no problems in a while too. Seems likely to be due to 10.5.5, but the other change is I've been plugging into external monitors and projectors every other day routinely since end of August, and I never noticed similar problems on external displays, only on the built-in.
Hopefully they will fix the clipping/tearing issue on the MacPro w/ 8800GT and the new MacBook and MacBook Pros. I'd buy a new Pro today if the screen didn't tear when scrolling and watching Flash based video.
Still all good here several months on from the 10.5.5 update. No issues with text scrolling on battery power. Happy camper but disappointed that it took soooo long to sort, with zero communication from apple even after the problem was found and addressed with the 10.5.5 update. Now I just have to wait out the radio silence on the aperture RAW update for my Canon 50D!
i had the same prob on my new aluminium mb.
talked through tech support, they put it down to a s/w prob with preferences prob.
worked fine since they deleted some files.
preferences folder.
but guess what? it's back again!
so far, it seems to be hapenning when running off battery only and low power.
i'm going to return it - it's under 14 days (1 day old) and get a new one!
pathetic apple! i came here from windows thinking i'd never be complaining....so much for that. my new ipod nano 4th gen also has a prob - keeps auto-ejecting as soon as i dock it!
I'm having the same problem on a brand new aluminum Macbook (not the pro). Trackpad scrolling, especially when running from battery power, results in severely garbled text. I've noticed this in Safari and TextEdit so far.
Is there anybody anymore?
I have the same problem as above.
Is there any solution or tip?
It is quite unbelievable to buy a Macbook Pro unibody 15" for this price with such a primitive scrolling look. I buyed a laptop to work with battery of course.
The problem happens with Safari, Camino or mail as well (may be with other Apps too). Since my first Apple (14 Years ago) I never had something like this!
Please help!
I'm also still having this problem on my Macbook Pro. Funny thing was, I had it, then they did an update and it went away, and now after another recent update it's back again.
It's driving me mad, so far it's made me switch from Safari to Firefox but the problem persists in things like Mail. Seriously Apple, if MS pulled something like this I'm sure you guys would be making fun of them. I think it's time to sort your own house out!
This problem is not solved. I am running 10.5.6 on an NVIDIA White Macbook. A major problem on Safari and some sites. Also just noticed it in Mail for the first time today! Does not occur with Firefox...
I talked with apple tech support and I found a solution to the weird cursor distortion problem -- I created a new account. Everything appears fine when I sign in now! It's like having a new computer. The only hassle was changing over all of the permissions for all of the apps and files.
