Guys you're not alone.

I have a BMW and there is a BMW thread out there. Also a Chrysler thread out there as well for Uconnect users. Sounds like the 2.0 software dropped the ball and isn't playing well with cars.

Like everyone else, my iPhone Edge with pre-2.0 software worked flawlessly and now everything is messed up with the iPhone Edge and iPhone 3G with 2.0 software.

Keep the pressure on Apple, make sure to submit bug reports... we need to get this fixed.

Hi Wendy,

As i expected you have the mercedes SAP unit (will either be black or sliver). Unfortunately the iphone 1st or 2nd gen are not SAP compatibible. Basically the SAP unit takes over your sim car - Sim Access Profile (SAP). Phones like the Nokia N95, Nokia 6500 Slide, Nokia 8600 Luna, Nokia N82 and Nokia E65 will work.

There are others but thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

The MBU-2000 Kit is not too expensive and if you are wanting it, contact ItJustWorks (through thier website www.itjustworks.co.uk) and let them know i sent you. I will make sure that they give you a good discount, that is if you are wanting the kit.

Although people think i am ItJustWorks unfortunately i am not. I use thier kit and have spoken to them many times.

Hi Robnadel,

I have much the same trouble as others in this topic.

Hardware: iPhone 3G white, MB C-Class (2006) + Command Center, MB Bluetooth Adapter from Peiker Acoustics (2006) using SAP profiles.

Running through setup leaves me at the point where the Command center displays the 16 digit code required to pair the iPhone, but once I press the "OK" button after a few seconds I get a downward ringing tone, indicating pairing is incomplete. On the iPhone I'm never prompted to enter the code.

Question: Where is the bug located? Is it a MB BT problem or an iPhone problem?

Thanks for reply
Chris

you have a SAP bluetooth device.

SAP is Sim-Access-Profile

Effectively the phone needs to allow this kit to take over the sim card of the phone. Only really Nokias have this in thier phones just now (yes there are a couple of others but it is mainly Nokia).

THE APPLE IPHONE 3G DOES NOT CURRENTLY SUPPORT SAP. So your kit will not work with the iphone 3G

Caps lock above is not indicating shouting - just wanting to make it a bit clearer for thos flicking through the thread.

Updated iPhone 3G last night to 2.0.1 and completely wiped my iPhone details (contacts etc)
Removed all pairings from Car ( BMW E46 Convertible - Mar 06 )

Phone pairs successfully but does not download any contacts as before and cannot be used via steering wheel controls as before

Calling direct from phone works now and you no longer get prompted to choose where you want to make call from i.e. Car, phone etc

Hopefully Apple will resolve the contacts issue in next update.

I also note that BT Icon seems to cycle on and off when trying to access contacts via steering wheel

Hey Rob, I just purchased a 2005 C 230K and it came with the DVD Navigation and I am assuming COMAND. What do I need to do and how much do I need to pay to be able to hook up my iphone to my car so I can make calls using the wheel controls? I am willing to drive down to San Diego if you can help me figure this out.
Thank you,
Hamid

OK now, I really need your help on this... I had a first gen iPhone with Edge, worked FINE with my 2008 CL 550 and 2008 ML 63 Bluetooth module. I now have a 3G iPhone which is FINE with my ML63 adaptor BUT will NOT work with my 2009 CL 65 with the new Bluetooth module. It can see the car, it will pair with the CL, but the phone service does not transfer over to the car...this is maddening... The dealer has not been able to help...can you???

Thanks!

I hope you're right, I have a 2007 ML 320 with the bluetooth adapter in the armrest. When I tried to pair my new iphone with it, the phone recognized the "MB phone system" but did not sucessfully pair. I called the MB wireless support people and was told that the iphone is NOT compatible. How frustrating! What am I doing wrong?

you have the mercedes SAP unit as both iphones work with the HFP just the contacts on the iphone 3g with HFP is dodgy, but still pairs up and allows making/receivign calls.

You will have to get either a Mercedes HFP unit of ViseeO MBU-2000 as they are the only units to work. The MBU-2000 will show your contacts whereas the HFP will not

up to you which one you buy

as far as i know the latest mercedes have got bluetooth built into them but from what i have read this is S.A.P bluetooth and thus will not work with either iphone (3g or normal).

If you are wanting to use a phone with your built in bluetooth you will need a S.A.P profile phone (i.e. pretty much any newer Nokia - 8800, 8600, N95 etc etc)
