I have a 2008 GL320 CDI (purchased 4 months ago) and recently purchased an iPhone 3G. Pairs successfully, phonebook downloads just fine. Only problem is that when dialing out, the MB screen says "Connecting..." but I can't hear the phone ringing. Once it connects, I can hear the other party. It's frustrating because I can't tell if the call is going through or not. Also, each time I make a call, the Audio Select on the phone pops up, asking me if I want to connect the MB Phone System, or iPhone or Speaker. It's defaulted to MB, but why should it ask me? Very strange.

I have a UK MB B Class which has Bluetooth built into the car.
I found that it would not pair with my iPhone unless I used a 4 digit passcode for the pairing.

The iPhone now pairs with the car as soon as I start the car and works perfectly.
It has also transferred the full phone book from the iPhone to the car and I can select the names and numbers using the dashboard screen and the steering wheel buttons.

I have - with 2.1 and earlier FWs the device paired but audio was problematic. With the 2.2 FW, pairing is much quicker and the audio issues appear to have been solved. I had unpaired and re-paired my iPhone after each FW update.

FYI - the "echo" term people incorrectly use for cell phones and cell towers is called duplexing.

I updated to 2.2 this week and my address book is now downloading to my 2007 CLS. Mercedes Benz were about to install a cradle free of charge to solve the problem but it looks like Apple beat them to it (even though Apple had closed my service call because they said it was a MB problem). So all fixed for me now.

I just wish they'd have admitted the problem and told me they were working on it. Naughty Apple.

I just purchased a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300 sport 4Matic (P2, multimedia, ipod connectivity, pano roof) and my 1st generation iphone would work great with bluetooth in the car, but my address book could not be transferred. To make a long story short, the dealership crashed my car on day #2 of ownership while trying to install QuickPark, so they have ordered me a new vehicle. It should be here in 10 days. Anyways, I now purchased an iphone 3G and was wondering if it will make any difference to the address book integration. Suggestions for address book integration?

I've read this thread, and it looks like there's really no answer yet. I have a 2008 CLS63. I bought it a year ago, installed the MB Bluetooth puck, and it worked fine with my Motorola Razr. Now I can't get it to pair with my new iPhone 3G running 2.2.1.

It seems as if the phone sees the car, but the car doesn't see the phone. When I run through the pairing procedure all I get is a message on the phone "MB PhoneSystem not paired."

I'd be grateful for any thoughts.

I have a 2008 c300 and iPhone 3G. Your address doesnt port over to the card because iPhone contact format isnt compatible with the navi. Here's what I did... I have the media package for my c300 which includes that memory card slot (PCMCIA). I got a pcmcia memory card reader and a memory card. Copied all my contacts that are sync to my outlook onto the memory card inserted it and on the COMAND SYSTEM I imported the address from external source (being the memory card). If you need detail instructions on how this work email me at tnguyen18@msn.com

Please help me get my contacts from my iphone to my 2009 c300. You say there are two ways? My phone paired simply enough but I can't move my contacts. I even tried with my imac computer which does have an "export vmail" function. The car recognizes the imac bluetooth but no icon showing the mercedes harddrive allows me to export the list into this file.

I have just bought a new Mercedes SLK and a new Iphone 3G and was getting very frustrated as couldn't connest the via the bluetooth which is standard in the Audio20 and as far as i know all other newer model audio system. basically if you try to connect via the same route as with a nokia for instance it doesn't work. instead you must use the external auhorisation route.
in simple terms,
swith on the bluetooth on your iphone, it will then begin to search fo devices.
On the car system select telphone, bluetooth telphones, update, options, External authorisation and start the bluetooth search.
you iphone will find the the MB bluetooth.
type in a passcode of your choice on the iphone when requested.
type in the same code on your car system when requested.

hey presto you are connected!

still can't download phone book or anyhting fancy like that but it does the basic bluetooth connection and means you can talk handfree and legally.

enjoy your Mercs! hope this helps someone else.

I just purchased a 2010 GLK 350 with Navi and had the dealer's phone
specialist connect my iPhone 3GS to the car's bluetooth system. The
connection was successful (I can make and receive calls with no
problem), but he could not transfer my contacts list to the screen.
He said this problem is not unusual with iPhones, and he did not have
a solution. C'est la vie...
