Okay I was with you until you said that. Him learning a programming language for the first time would be a GREAT thing. He doesn't need to know another programming language to learn objective-c; although it would help. Why would you tell someone that they'd waste their time learning how to code? They could make a lot of money doing that.

The learning curve is pretty steep, so if someone has no experience with programming, starting with the iPhone SDK would IMHO be less than optimal. It would be better for a novice to start learning to develop apps for the full Mac OS X before they take on the limitations and special circumstances involved in developing for the iPhone.

I said no such thing. What I meant was if someone has never done ANY programming whatsoever, starting off with the iPhone's SDK is probably not the best place to start.

A large percentage of those who downloaded the iPhone SDK didn't even take the time to check the minimum system requirements for the SDK - which IMO indicates a lack of paying attention to detail which is somewhat important for a programmer. And some downloaded the SDK without any idea what it is or for, or thinking they would have access to firmware update 2.0 for their iPhone now or something.
