I'm sick of these overload messages! Is there ANY fix in sight? (Part 2)

I have 4 tracks going (which is nothing), my cpu meter is barely moving, and I RARELY got this message in Logic 7.
I've trashed my preferences, and read this forum over and over and tried everything I can, and I cannot get this problem to go away.

Is there ANYTHING that can be done and will Apple fix this??"

Synesthesian,
What about my comment do you disagree with? You call it a Huge problem. I call it a big problem. We are just getting into semantics now. This is in fact a monumental problem. We who are having these problems can all agree on this. I was saying to call apple and let your opinion be heard. Let them know how bad your experience with their product has been. Voice your disapproval.
or,
Am I off the mark and in a roundabout sort of way ,... you are saying you agree with my statements?
For the most part I am repeating what others have said countless times. I just feel that this needs to be kept up.

I dont' blame you for rolling back to logic 7. I think that is the best work around for the logic 8 "problem" period.

Synesthesian, I think he was saying that it shouldn't only be talked about on this forum, but should be acted upon and reported as being a big problem. Which you said as well, but I think he was referring to the sentence "it is too big a problem not to be talked about", and he meant it shouldn't be restricted to only a forum discussion. Sort of like preaching to the choir kind of thing. You both are on the same page in your concerns.

you need to uninstall both the card and the software.

the problem is with the universal audio side of things, although you might be alright with an older mac.

if someone wants to moan 'why has logic broken UAD' feel free, but that seems to be the common denominator and UA are aware of it. i wouldn't blame you for being irritated. fact is there are so many factors that come together in modern music production pretty much anything can go wrong.

but, until UA get it sorted i think you are going to have these problems. again, just to stress, i am not hanging on UA. they might just be innocent victims of moving goal posts. then again they might have stuffed up as well....

Rohan,
Thanks for your input. After reading your post I talked with the the UAD tech support for a bit yesterday. They gave me some good input as well. They informed me that the problems are mostly with the brand new 8 cores. It was the tech?s opinion that it is a problem with logic 8 at this time because they are not running into these problems with digital performer and other mac based hosts. Who knows? It is all a mystery to me. Hopefully all this gets worked out sooner rather than later.

Flood, that's what the tech support says, but when I read the last locked thread on this, there were all kinds of systems having issues, not only the new 8 cores. That's why I started a thread to find out which systems work, which don't. My thread looked like a poll so it was removed unfortunately.

I will call the PR number thanks. I will tell them people would like to know what system/software configurations are the most robust. Pro companies like Digidesign can tell you this; Apple should too.

This info is crucial for working pros and newbies looking to buy into Apple/Logic systems.

Hello all, yes a noob here,
relatively new to mac and logic, getting similar massages, ex. (disk too slow/engine overload) messages, ive been trouble shooting, gone through every preference/setting i can find. i've received the error message while recording anywhere from 6 to 12 tracks simultaneously through an onyx mackie board firewire. It will work perfectly for anywhere from 10 seconds to 3 minutes and then suddenly stop recording with message. If anyone has any suggestions beyond "this version is buggy" i'd really appreciate it. no answer is too basic for me at this point, maybe its just something im missing, but judging from the mass amount of views and posts on the topic im not alone. thnx

AngelGraffiti,
How fast is the hard drive in your macbook pro? I am guessing it is 5400rpm. Are you recording to your system drive? You need to be recording to a drive that is at least 7200rpm. A faster firewire external drive might be your solution. You will heve much better luck if you just run logic from your system drive and record to the seperate faster drive. This will most likely solve your problems.
