Cisco VPN on Mac vs Windows??

my company uses Cisco VPN to connect to the corporate network, and will provide it for our home computer, but they say we can only use a windows pc to connect to the corp LAN via VPN. then use Remote Administator to control our pc (which i could just install a VNC server instead)

shouldn't i be able to use Cisco VPN for Mac if i have the right settings? and do the settings differ from mac to win?

I have noticed a few things from dealings with this flaky software. I started with 4.6 and didn't have too many problems overall except for the occasional error 51 issue. Using a script someone (sorry I can't remember who wrote it) wrote, it would reset that issue.

Then I upgraded to 4.7 and didn't have any issues. But then my iBook G4 died suddenly so I got another iBook G4. I reinstalled 4.7 and noticed now too that I had a visible alias on the disk for the opt folder. If you delete or move this alias, VPN will crap out and simply not work. The restart script will not work with this issue at all. As long as that alias is there, it works. Anybody know what the story is with this? I could have sworn that on my old iBook G4, I did not have this alias visible. In the console, the error message is stating something about not finding something to start up if the alias is missing.

Also, one thing I found interesting but don't know if it really did anything or not. A comment from VersionTracker or MacUpdate (can't remember which) said that if you had ever had sharing through firewire on, it should be off. Just to try anything to get this flaky program to work, I turned it on and then turned it off. Just a thought but certainly no promises.

Well, I have gotten nowhere with Cisco's techs. Other than for them to point me to various mac fixit articles and google threads that prove less than helpful.

My main problem is that this WORKS fine on a linksys router, but when I'm on my Airport - it craps out. Nothign else changes.

Cisco admits no known issues with Airport.

I give up! I'm tired of having to turn on/off network connections, dump preference files, restart vpn, stop vpn, turn on turn off etc etc to get on my network. it's easier o drive to the office and get the files I need.

=P sorry - my troubleshooting patience has expired on this one.

Thanks for trying
I have still not been able to get 4.7 to work either. I have just gone back to 4.6 version. I tried it again when I had some time to troubleshoot but nothing. Reinstalling 4.6 had made the Opt file visible as well, but now it is not an alias. I installed xCode and used the set file to make it invisible.
I only used it on an Airport Extreme and an Airport Express and was not able to try it on any other type of router.

Sad to say I too have lost functionality since update to 4.7. Upgraded because I was having intermittent sub menu errors with the 4.6 fix they recently published. If I rebooted, the submenu error usually cleared up. So I saw 4.7 and updated thinking this would be the ultimate fix since Tiger upgrade.

I can connect to work, but can't use web based Citrix or the ICA connections. Says "connection was broken". After updating, I can't get 4.6 to work anymore either. So we're right back to square one on this.
