TM is not backing up and I cannot get to previously backed yo stuff (it worked before). I use TC to back up. The 'connecting to back up volume' stays on forever. When I delve deeper it says "disk image failed to mount"
Thanks for the link to saving your Time Machine - this is getting somewhere.
I'm thinking that the fsck_hfs (filesystem check) is doing the trick on my corrupted sparsebundle - it appears that the Disk Utility does nothing more than a fsck of some nature. But perhaps running fsck multiple times helps also.
All the issues mentioned I have had. I have tried all the mentioned fixes as well and tc/tm will work for a week or so and then I am back to not being able to backup. this is one area where Apple needs to do some work!
Just a data point for all: I upgraded yesterday to TC firmware 7.3.2 and encountered the "failed to mount" issue today for TM backups from both of my iMacs. Rolling back to 7.3.1 appears to have fixed the issue (at least for the first backup attempt from the Intel machine).
That is
really not a good result when upgrading between such supposedly minor versions of the f/w. Hopefully someone at Apple will bring this to the attention of the dev team.
It's fixed. Since we had a desktop PC with ethernet (too old for wi-fi) and the Mac, I had to keep unplugging it to get wireless. Since we have got rid of the desktop and bought a PC laptop, all is well as we are now both linked to the TC and the wires stay put.
