Epson Stylus R200 Job list won't delet

First, the R200 works just fine in Panther. As of today, the R200 works fine once again in OS9 The problem is getting it to work completely in Tiger.

I was on the phone with Epson for over an hour, nice people, helped me get rid of all the Epson files in OS9 and printer now works fine. But, when I asked to get rid of the job list that won't delete (keeps returning) in Tiger, I was told to open Printer Setup Utilities. I was told it was in Tiger>Applications>Utilities. I have NO such file on my Tiger, none that I can find, that is. I was then told, they were afraid to go further with instructions and have me trash all the Epson files for fear I would no longer be able to connect my R200. Apparently, the trashing of the current Epson files would have enabled me to get rid of the job printing list that refuses to be deleted.

So I'm stuck. I ask her how did she think I was able to connect the printer in the first place without the Printer Setup Utilities. She just repeated what she had already told me.

*Is there such a program in Tiger called Printer Setup Utilities?*

*Does anyone know how to get rid of the very long list of jobs waiting to be printed?*

I also did not learn how to print via classic using ClarisWorks 4. This use to work fine.

*Does anyone know how to fix my non printing ClarisWorks?* (To be honest, at times it will print, but only one page, then I have to reboot.)

*Why am I getting the icon PrinterProxy when I try to print in Tiger via Classic?*

I did learn how to make the CD/DVD feature (Epson Print CD) work in Tiger, is anyone wants to know.

I stand corrected. I am in Panther, I DO have a Print Setup Utility, but it no longer works, though the printer is working fine. I tried to open the PSU application and got the message "The application Printer Setup Utility has unexpectedly quit. The system and other applications have not been affected. Would I like to submit a bug report to Apple?" (What ever happens to those reports, anyway?) Now, is Panther's Printer Setup Utility the same as it would be in Tiger, if I had one? If so, couldn't I just use my Panther disc. and copy it into Tiger?

I looked in the PSU crash log and it has a Link (dyld) error: No idea what this means.

Good Morning. Truth be told, I hate mysteries too; can't even enjoy putting a puzzle together.

I trashed all of these in Tiger and only one I found in Panther (PSU issue "The application Printer Setup Utility has unexpectedly quit.)

com.apple.print.Cache.000a95c840b2.plist
com.apple.print.Cache.000393d71244.plist
com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
com.apple.print.favorites.plist
com.apple.print.FaxPrefs.plist
com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist
com.apple.print.PrinterProxy.plist
com.apple.print.PrinterProxy.Stylus PhotoR200.plist
com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist

That pesky list is still there. Yes I rebooted several times.

You know what's interesting. When I was in Panther>System Preferences>Print&Fax, the "Print&Fax" window had an option, just under the three options along the top, that read "Setup Printer", this option isn't present the "Print & Fax" preference in Tiger; there is the option via + and -,however. *Is this normal for Tiger to not have this option?*

Doggedly Determined,

I have some reporting, some good news, and some bad news to offer.

First, the reporting: I trashed the files you suggested I trash in Panther to regain my Printer Setup Utility which zonked out on me. Nothing happened.

Secondly, the good news: I installed a new PSU from the Panther Install Disc, and nowthe PSU on Panther is working fine. I also installed the Panther PSU into the Tiger HD, and it's working fine.

Thirdly, the bad news: Now I can call Epson help back and tell them I now have the missing PSU so they can proceed with helping me get rid of the job print list. There goes an hour I will never get back.

The silly thing is, when I finally got a look at what the PSU had to offer, it was the same thing that was offered when I clicked on Print Utility. I included a link so you can see the comparisons between the PSU on Panther and on Tiger.

I don't think I'm done, by a long shot, but at least I can put the Epson help back to work. If I had known what PSU offered when I was on the phone, I would have faked it and told them what they wanted to hear. It's a difficult call since they are located on the other side of the planet and there is a small time delay when talking. It was difficult to get someone to understand that I thought then I had what was needed to complete the fix.

I'll have to get back to let you, BDAqua, and anyone else who might be following this folklore, and share know has happened.

Wait, one more tiny question. Does the Tiger Printer Setup Utility have an option to RESET PRINTING SYSTEM? I just got an email from Epson explaining how to take the files off the computer. If Tiger does have a reset feature, then perhaps that's the difference between Tiger and Panther OS. I'm told that doing this is how to get rid of all the printer drivers.

Hallelujah Hallelujah EVERYTHING IS FIXED! Thank you,BDAqua, for hanging in there with me. I took your advice and installed the missing "Printer Setup Utility", the right one this time, and was able to "reset" the printers and delete the phantom jobs. The problem with ClarisWorks not printing in Tiger is gone too, not sure what fixed that unless it was also by replacing the missing "PSU" application, don't know, don't care! I think I'm good to go.

BDAqua, if you lived nearby, I would bake you the best pie you've ever had, I'm very good!
