Boot Camp 2.1 will not install.

I attempted to install this update on my Mac Book Pro, and it was a no-go.

I tried software update (4 times), downloaded the installer through software udpate and ran it(2 times), and then ran the stand-alone installer (4 times).

Each time the install failed.

I set-up Windows Installer logging, so if anyone at Apple wants to see the log, I'd be happy to send it your way.

Thanks,

FINALLY, THIS SOLUTION WORKS LIKE A CHARM :

--------------------------------------------
Hello All, i've solved this problem changing a registry key where Boot Camp store language codepage identification and setting to 1033 (english).

HKEY CLASSESROOT\Installer\Products\D5DD71889A642804C827D3CFA8799F7A\Language set it to 1033 (decimal) for english

The error is probably due to the fact that my Windows XP sp2 was set to italian during first Boot Camp installation.
Error was:
DEBUG: Error 2749: Transform 1040 invalid for package C:\WINDOWS\Installer\96467.msi. Expected product version == 2.0.1, found product version 2.1.0.
1: 2749 2: 1040 3: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\96467.msi 4: 2.0.1 5: 2.1.0
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.
1040

Hope this help other ppl, bye
corrado

Try the following:

1) run: regedit.exe

2) search for: Boot Camp Services
the key should be: ProductName

3) change in the same path, the Language key to: 1033

4) run the installer again

Hope this helps
Cheers Harry

Another way to solve this problem (Vista 32):
I have tried editing the register (at two places), but this did not help for me.
I started Regional and Language Options, and changed -everything- to US English. Not only my keyboard layout, region and formats, but also the system defaults and copy these settings to the systemaccounts. Reboot and install.
This should also work on 64bit, I will try this later today.

I think I have it figured out.

The Apple Update looks for the drivers that Apple installs before upgrading, if like my you installed the latest Catalyst Drivers from ATI and maybe even Live Mesh (Which annoyingly installs a mirror driver for Remote Desktop which I will never use), Apple will not detect the correct video driver and abort.

Once I uninstalled the Catalyst Driver and Live Mesh everything went well.

I'm betting I only needed to uninstall the Catalyst Driver, but I did both just to be good.

Boot Camp 2.1 will not install.
