Problem scanning with hp psc 2110 all-in-one

I am trying to scan using an hp psc 2110 all-in-one and I keep getting an error message that the scanner can not be found. I can print and copy just fine, just no scanning. I tried reinstalling the hp drivers from the Leopard dvd with no luck and there are drivers on the hp site. Any ideas?

Thanks!

My 2210 is over 5 yrs old so it owes me nothing. I can't see the price of Vuescan when printers are so cheap. I just bought Canon MX310 for $39.95 AR by using Circuit City for $79.95 price match @ Staples. Staples transaction prints out $40. MIR. Thanks to slickdeals.net for alerting me to this deal. With HP's arrogant refusal to write new scanner driver for 2210 they go to the top of my S**T list. This way they won't even get $ for ink purchases. I'll make 1 of my less fortunate PC friends happy with a hand-me-down of 2210. IMHO The ONLY way to get the attention of arrogant manufacturers like HP is BLACKBALL them. Plenty of other reliable brands.

I have an Hp 2110 All- in- one printer scanner and I am using the scanner with the software that came with the printer. It is in a folder called HP AiO Software.I'm sorry but I'm not quite sure which one I used because I set this up a few months ago. I set up so many things coming to Apple from my PC. I think it was the HP All-In-One setup Assistant I hope this info is useful to someone.
Good Luck

Hi are you doing E.C. hey thanks for coming up with the scanning solutions, but I'm having a little problem when i come to this stage

"then back to 2100 790EN.dmg and mount it and don't run the installer but do "Show Package Contents" then open "Contents then "Sub Installers" then "Setup" then run the "Setup" installer
It will install the HP Setup Assistant is specific for 2110 not the F4280 "

for some reason all I get is the installer running all over again. Ed what do you mean to "mount the installer"?

thanks for all your help.

This last post by DougQ is quite interesting. I've got the 2210 and have never been able to get it to scan since I went to Leopard. I've had to run up Tiger from a backup drive to use the scanning s/w. However, after reading that you had it running on 10.5.5 I gave it a try. I ran up the same AIO software that I've had lo these many years and it actually ran up and works!! I just scanned from that old beast and didn't have to jump through any of these hoops suggested earlier.....that I was just about to try jumping through. Not sure what the magic fix is in 10.5.5 but this thing is working "out of the box" with 10.5.5.

Thank you Edward!

Your procedure works GREAT!

Here is an update to your procedure for those who are:

Running - MAC OS x Version 10.5.5 and
Have – HP PSC 2210xi All-In-One printer

First, get the software for HP PSC 2200 Series – MAC OS X v10.3 and v10.4 (Universal)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-42265-1 &lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=79502&os=219

Then mount the dmg: 2200 790EN.dmg and launch the installer. There were no error messages when I installed this app. The software found the printer but not the scanner.

Then follow the remainder of Edward’s procedure:

Get the software for DeskJet F4280 AIO.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-58668-1 &lc=en&cc=us&os=219&product=3390949&dlc=en

Mount the dmg: HP Installer_DJF4200v9.7.1.dmg and launch, it will ask you for the device, select "device not listed" but the second time it ask you to pick a device shown as listed, pick the only one shown then continue to finish installing... when done. It will attempt to start the HP Setup Assistant. It won't find the PSC at all so quit the HP Setup Assistant

Then go to HP folder inside the application directory and then open Device Utilities and drag "HP Setup Assistant" to desktop or to trash but don't empty it yet.

Then back to 2200 790EN.dmg and mount it and don't run the installer but do "Show Package Contents" then open "Contents then "Sub Installers" then "Setup" then run the "Setup" installer

It will install the HP Setup Assistant is specific for 2210xi not the F4280.

When done, quit the installers. You may trash the HP Setup Assistant that is on desktop and empty it.

Then go to HP folder then open Device Utilities folder and run HP Setup Assistant, it will find the 2210xi and continue finishing setting up. Now you have Leopard compatible software! Now try HP Scan Pro and enjoy!

NOTES:

The scan button on the HP PSC 2210xi All-In-One printer works properly.

This procedure will also add a printer named HP PSC 2200 Series-1. Use this printer, I have found that everything works properly.

*Hey BonePilot* -

On a "clean?" re-install of Hp printer software, the Hp start-up assistant would not show the laserjet, only a blank box, even though it was connected via USB. This is a 4-mo old Laserjet all-in-one...

Hp support suggested closing the pop-up start-up assistant and instead go through the HD to reach the start-up assistant. It worked for me.

See if it works for you.
