Dlink DWL-G122 USB Wireless Support?

Hello,

I'm curious about Mac Mini support for the Dlink DWL-G122 USB wireless adapter?

I just opened up a new Mini yesterday and found that it did not recognize the DWL-G122. I found some references to using a Ralink driver, but then found follow-ups on Google Groups saying that there were a variety of problems with that method.

As a new Mac person (went the iPod to Mini route like I'm sure lots of other people!) I'm not familiar with if comments can be sent to Apple about device support and seriously considered?

true, those are quite large and generally cost more, i have the wet11 connected to my xbox, i think it was over $100 when I bought it, and require an extra power outlet as well and a patch cable, i wish everything was wireless.

As most people discover USB is very driver dependent when it comes to alot of things. One then discovers that being USB cheapo isn't all what it is cracked up to be.

Macs need Ethernet to be as painless as possible when involving Networking of any kind. USB is wasting your money and bandwith. ...Ron

You could always try one of those ethernet wireless adaptors.

I disagree. If you find the right piece of equipment you can save a lot of money. As I think I stated above (or have elsewhere)- we have 5 d-link dwl-122 adapters at work. They are fantastic! Work better on the macs then the windows machines.

I think the troubles arise when you try to take a device not made for the mac and use a third party driver. That is when you run into problems.

Ok, I ended up trying my DWL-G122 and realized I have an incompatible "H/W Ver." - at least in terms of the Ralink driver. I have H/W Ver. A1, which uses the Intersil Prism chipset, not the Ralink chipset.

Does anyone know whether I can get OS X to recognize and use the DWL-G122 H/W Ver. A1? This seems like a popular USB wireless adapter, hopefully Apple will address this?

I just purchased a Dlink DWL-120, but I cannot load the drivers. I called Dlink and they confirmed that DWL-120 does not support Mac OS, suggested I try DWL-122. I then saw this post:

I have the dwl-120 running on 7 machines in my building (3 are macs) and they work great. Actually, we have had less problems with them on the macs then the pc's.

Can you help me out? Do I need a translator program to load the driver?
