"Billing Info" loop

Whenever I try to buy a new song, I'm asked to comfirm billing info. I do, and it's accepted, then I go back to the song I want to buy, and I'm asked to confirm again.

What's going on? Why won't iTunes let me spend my money?!

Tried all of this. nothing happened. gave up. tried again the other day and it worked. bought a kids TV program today worked, went to buy an album today: f*cked again.

Has anyone managed to fix this yet or am i randomly alowed to buy one or two things a year and everything else can take a running jump. this is ridiculous someone must know how to resolve this. or am I simply less important because i'm not american? If this happened to poeple in the states it would be an issue, once again british money doesn't seem important to large american corporations.

Tonight I updated my Apple TV with the latest software updated. Then all of the sudden I couldn't rent an HD movie and it was telling me to update my billing info in iTunes. Nothing really changed except I did make some new purchases on Apple.com and through iTunes via my computer this week. Anyways, I tried a bunch of things but the thing that fixed it was I went into Settings on my Apple TV and then I went into my iTunes account. I signed out but I also noticed that the name listed was my e-mail address (and not my usual Apple ID). So I signed back in with my Apple ID and it worked.

6 attempts to buy music - all loop mne through billing info check request, but all my details are correct. Tried changing password - no effect. Tried to enter a new credit card - but billing info page falls over if I attempt to switch from Maestro to Visa payment method. Tried changing country - no effect. In all cases process times out and presents me with the cheerless message 'We could not complete your ITunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-4).' Well this UK user for one won't be trying again later, I'm off to 7Digital, and I calculate that's about £1000 in lost sales over my purchasing lifetime.

Yeah if this happened constantly to me I'd buy elsewhere. That fix has worked for lots of folks, typing in over seemingly good info.

Have you tried contacting iTS support?
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/creditcard/

And don't let them tell you they've never heard of the billing info loop - give them the URL to this topic. Their first reply is usually canned - reply back to that.

My reply from Apple. Not yet tested it, although will do later. Fingers crossed.

I'm sorry you had trouble with your iTunes Store purchase. To purchase from iTunes Store, you'll need to make corrections to your account information. To do this, follow these steps:

1) Sign out of the iTunes Store by choosing Sign Out from the Store menu in iTunes.

2) Visit Apple's My Info website: http://myinfo.apple.com

3) Choose your country and preferred language. Then enter your iTunes Store account name and password and click Continue.

4) Choose Address Book from the menu on the left. On the Edit Address Book page, look at your shipping addresses at the bottom. If you have multiple shipping addresses, remove any out-of-date or duplicate addresses by clicking Delete. Also, make sure the state or province field is filled out correctly for each address. To edit an address, click Edit.

5) Now choose Phone Numbers from the menu on the left to look at your phone numbers. The area codes should be in the area code fields and the phone numbers should be in the phone number fields. If an area code is missing, or if it is in a phone number field, your account information may not save properly.

6) Make any other necessary corrections, then click the Save Changes button.

7) Click Log out in the upper-right corner. When you make your next iTunes Store purchase, you will be asked to review your billing information. At that point, you can change your information or simply click Done. After that, you should be able to purchase items.

Well I read everything on this thread about the "Billing Loop"
Tried every single fix listed on this thread and still no success

Here's my scenario, I want just one song right now, and a movie rental the other night (didn't happen) I have a $2.13 credit on my account still and every time I ask to purchase a title ($0.99CDN) I am asked to verify my billing info, which is all in order including the Security Code of the C.C. but the iTunes store keeps telling me it is invalid, which it is not invalid as I use it on daily basis, so what's wrong with the $2.13 credit for a $0.99 song?

Why can't I use the iTunes Store anymore?
