If your podcast is not appearing - add your details here

From reading various threads it seems that lots of us are having problems getting our podcasts listed. I'm one of those whose podcast was listed as 'already submitted' but has not yet appeared in the directory.

There seem to be numerous 'theories' out there as to the reasons behind some of us not being listed. Can I suggest that anyone who cannot get their podcast listed (lets say you've been waiting several weeks) adds their details to this thread - as we gather more examples maybe we can work out what the issue is.

Suggest we leave the following info - location & podcast feed address as a minimum (can anyone else think of other useful info to gather?)

I'm based in the UK & my feed is at www.jamcasting.com/podcast/feed.xml

Cheers
Jim

Goodluck! I know others have called corporate and the operator has referred them back to this site to fill out a feedback form.

It is unfortunate that Apple has failed to provide an open line of communication. Postings on this site, emails to support, calls to corporate and nothing in return.

I think it is fair to say that most of us agree that whatever the reason is for waiting this long is that an answer be provided. This has to be part of the process for iTunes submission going forward. It is unreasonable for Apple to have people just sit and wait for months at a time.

Some of you including myself may have "adult" themed podcasts, but there are others who present perfectly "G" rated shows, and still have not been submitted into the directory.

A recent scan of iTunes directory using keyword:sex produces a sleu of "adult" oriented podcasts - what makes mine the exception? What is this review process, and at what point do podcasters know that the process is over for them so they can move on . . .

Posted this topic on Digg.com. www.digg.com/apple/Podcastersgetting_no_info_about_iTMS_Podcast_submissionstatus Digg.com is a community-driven version of slashdot. It's run by Kevin Rose who was from TechTV/G4/ Diggnation/ Systm. I suggest everyone go to the link and click on "Digg it" The more "Diggs" a certain story gets, the closer to the frontpage it goes and if it eventually gets enough diggs, it will be on the frontpage.

Called apple corporate and they gave me an e-mail address to try: musicstore@apple.com Here's the e-mail I sent:

" Dear iTunes team,

I submitted my Dave Matthews Band Podcast to the iTMS on 7/6/05. I then submitted my Bookmarkable AAC feed on 7/30/05. I find it outrageous that it's been odmbpodcast.blogspot.com/ The Mp3 feed is: feeds.feedburner.com/TheUnofficialDmbPodcast The Bookmarkable AAC feed is: feeds.feedburner.com/wds-m4b

Newsweek submitted the "Newsweek on Air" on 7/10/05. Ebert & Roeper submitted their feed on 7/30/05, and even the somewhat grassroots vidcast, Systm, submitted their feed on 8/3/05. How is that the podcasts produced by "Big Buisness" are being accepted MUCH quicker than the Indie podcasts? EVERY other podcast directory site has a submission policy of "first come, first serve" On the same day that I submitted my podcast to iTunes, I submitted it to PodcastAlley.com. PodcastDirectory.com, Podcastpickle.com, iPodder.org, & iPodderx.com and all except for iTunes, the feed was added the podcast directories within 5 days.

I just wish their was a site where you can enter your podcast feed and it will state your submission status. If it was denied, it can tell you the problem (profanity, copyrighted material, issues with the RSS feed itself)

I had called Apple's corporate # ( 408.996.1010 ) and a guy told me there was no direct way to contact the iTunes team other than this site: www.apple.com/support/itunes/download.html It's to send e-mail feedback if you're having a problem with the iTMS. The site says that they will respond to the e-mail within 72 hours and I've sent 3 e-mails and still haven't heard anything.

There are MANY more examples of this problem:

http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@@.68b5fd22 :
People still waitiing

http://discussions.info.apple.com/.68b568fa/5 : guy who submitted on june 29th and STILL isn't listed

If there's any information on why it is taking so long to be accepted, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yours Truly,
-name removed- "

Maybe if everyone tries sending a massive amount of e-mails to them, maybe Apple will listen.

I received this today. Seems like your podcast can drop off without a trace or messages can as well.........

A copy of your message for reference:

Hello everyone,

Please post your "dropped" podcast in this format.

1. Title
2. Feed xml address
3. Contact email

Dropped podcasts are ones that originally appeared in the iTunes directory and for no reason at all, has been since removed from the iTunes directory.

If you podcast infringes on copywritten material then it was most likely the cause for the drop, but for others out there with no explanation as to the drop, then please submit it here.

I want to have us all be represented somehow. Even if it is technically only a user-to-user board. If there is a single list, we may be able to distinguish a pattern (if any).

Thanks
Nathan

It's been 30 days now for me. . . It is depressing doing a search everyday in iTunes and not seeing my podcast. It's even more depressing that I see other new podcasts appearing where mine (and yours) should be. The podcast I submitted is an inspirational Christian "family" type radio show called "Share Your Faith". I can't imagine a reason why they would censor it.

Apple, I emplore you to communicate with us (not an automated response) and not keep us running in circles. Or, You could simply do a press release and admit to the backlog that obviously exists with podcast submisions and set a realistic timetable. I also suggest that you put a feed validator function into the podcast submission screen, giving the submitter at least a heads-up (right then) that something is wrong.

I will wait as long as I have to. . . I have no choice. . . I still love my Apple products! But in the meantime, (I am whispering now) anyone have any real solid alternatives to iTunes Podcast directory? Thanks!

Add me to the list of podcasters who have not been added to iTunes. As a loyal Apple user, I've lost a bit of faith in them as a result.

Maybe they don't quite understand the idea of podcasting, given that they are not adding many of the indie programs but have no problem stacking iTunes with lots of corporate shows. Do we really need more ABC, ESPN and Siskel and Whoever?

My feed is:
feeds.feedburner.com/wellroundedradio

or visit the web site at www.wellroundedradio.net

Where is the next podcasting site that everyone is focusing on this week? ; )

It seems like a long time since I first made this post. I think I'd done about 7 podcasts before Itunes even came about. I didnt even get the chance to submit - the response i got on day one was 'already submitted' - I guess that itunes improted the list from podcast alley or one of the other directories.

Please someone help - it really can;t be that difficult

This is incredibly ludricious. I've submitted my show on the first day that podcasting was available, and I still don't see it posted on iTunes. Like many here, I'm unable to resubmit my feed ( http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheUrbanLandscapesPodcasts).

What will it take? It seems that there's a lack of response from Apple, and priority seems to be handed to those with corporate deep pockets over everyone else. I don't mean to get livid about it....actually, yeah, I do. I think it's a great idea, but it's just ridiculous to have to wait that long for any sort of response....or even to see the feed on iTunes.

I'm getting mighty discouraged at this stage, and close to recommending to others to not hold out much hope from Apple.

It took about a month for my podcast to appear. I know a lot of you are thinking that your podcast might be discriminated against because of content or because you aren't a mainstream radio station... I think there are just tons of submissions, way more than at any other podcast site, and they haven't gotten to it yet. Mine is just me in my room talking into a mic and playing music, and I showed up, and you'll see there are lots of other amateur 'casts on iTunes, covering an extremely wide variety of content. It stinks that there's no way to monitor the status of your submission, and hopefully that will change, but unless there are fatal errors in your RSS tags, I'd just hang in there. Most everyone who's posted here says their podcast appears in 1-2 months...

If your podcast is not appearing - add your details here
