MMS/ Picture Messaging

Does the new iPhone support MMS??? If no, WHY? This is a normal function that all phones being produced in our world of technology have. I have a original iPhone that I purchased almost a year ago. And when the warrenty is up, I'm just thinking about getting a blackberry. Just because the iPhone does not support normal fetures. What are the pros and cons if I do this? Also, if i chose to go with another type of phone, will I still be able to use the iPod part of the iPhone?

Seriously, any snide-ness is all in your head, and you are obviously highly defensive about Apples decisions.

So is any vitriol you claim to have received here. I purchased a device that meets my most important needs and wants, a device that doesn't "annoy" me because of a feature not included like MMS - end of story. There are some improvements I'd like to see, but even if I were so inclined to whine and complain about it, I wouldn't spend time at a user to user help forum for technical support issues and questions doing so to fellow users only - which certainly doesn't accomplish anything.

That must be some tasty kool-aide.

Typical reply along with the labeling by certain folks when someone doesn't agree with them but nope, just common sense and being practical with the products I purchase, which I make use of with any company and with any product.

I really don't understand what is wrong with criticizing Apples decisions.

As I've already said more than once, there is nothing wrong with doing so, but this is not the place for it.

OK, what is with you people that feel the need to slam and ridicule people for wanting the capability to send and receive MMS messages on their iPhone. Here is the real issue, if I can't send an MMS, that is no real big deal to me. This is where my problem is:

Every now and then someone sends me a picture message, so I get the link from AT&T telling me that I got one and to go to www.viewmymessage.com/2, and enter a ridiculous ID and password to view it. You go to the site and enter this info (and if you try to do it on the phone, you have to write it down because there is no way to memorize it) Then, after doing all of this, IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!! I have tried this several times and I would say more than 75% of the time the picture will not load. Then if you do get it to load it is not even full resolution and is useless. So I have to tell people that I can't see the pic because I have an iPhone, and then ask them to E-mail it to me, and the response is almost always "just forget it, it was no big deal" and that is usually after they are stunned that the supposed best phone on the market can't receive MMS.

I feel I have every right to be upset because even the solution to the problem of not being able to recieve MMS messages is total garbage!!! There are so many better solutions to this problem, but Apple and AT&T do not care. They show absolutely no regard for what their paying customers want. If they can send me a text message with a link to a website and create a username and password for it, why can't they just incorporate that in the link and make it open the picture (at the resolution it was sent) when I click on it!!!! Oh yeah, I guess that doesn't matter anyway, cause the website DOES NOT WORK!!!!! Or better yet, if they can do all that when someone tries to send me a MMS why can't they just give us the option of having any incoming MMS messages forwarded to our personal E-mail, and then they don't have to put it on a server for a week. They have the ability to do that, THEY JUST DON'T CARE!!!!

A lot of people on here want to preach that MMS is not needed when you can do it through E-Mail. Ok, I can buy that, and I have no problem sending my pictures through E-mail. however, I do not feel that I should have to be excluded from receiving picture messages from my friends that are too ignorant or lazy to send a picture on their phone through E-mail just because someone has an elitist attitude against MMS and wants everything done through E-mail. All I ask is that Apple and AT&T come up with a better solution of how to handle an incoming MMS message to an iPhone, so I can at least view it at full resolution and save it to my phone if I want.

My sentiments are with all those who are appalled that MMS is not a standard feature on the iphone. To quote: "Bwashington23... who sums it up succinctly, what is the problem?...the xfer to website; the id#; the password...all uncopy & unpasteable...Apple-couldn't you make it any more difficult for us? and to top it all off, it seldom opens you picture!
It *****!..

Speak for yourself! The MMS system as it is now is horrible. Many of my contacts don't check the email on their phone, and they don't care to input an email address if they want to send me a quick snap. Every other phone I've owned can do this simple task. And having to memorize a passcode is horrible too since I can't COPY AND PASTE the passcode into notes and then into the website. MMS is very necessary IMO as well as video messaging. It's a staple in my everyday life.

Nobody here even mentions the fact that you can't even go to the viewmymessage.com website on the iPhone, you have to go to a computer which is completely ridiculous. Why do they even bother doing it? I do love the idea of them forwarding the MMS to the email from AT&T's MMS server, that makes perfect sense, but things that make perfect sense are smart ideas, and even smart ideas don't happen when Apple doesn't want them to. No wonder that Verizon turned Apple's iPhone down, they always want way too much control over their product.

I find it quite ridiculous that another country's cell phone provider was allowed by Apple to create a MMS application and use it. Why is it that AT&T isn't doing this or pushing for this? Don't they understand it would be even more money in their pocket?

Don't underestimate the power of emotional momentum - it's hard for people to change habits (me included) even when it makes logical sense. I think for those who must have MMS, they should just get another phone, even though it may be expensive. If they can't afford it, then they'll either change to email or quit sending MMS.

The biggest problem is when you get the ones that have the picture or video and the sound is separate, because you can't play the sound and watch the video. In an MMS capable phone, it would play them together. That is one of the main reasons, the other one is the plain and simple fact that Apple doesn't like giving their customers choice. I mean why are they so against it in the first place?

Now I understood before I got the iPhone that it wouldn't have MMS and I'm doing just fine without it (for the most part), but the fact is I like choice.

Why Is it so hard to understand that people have friends that are either too technologically challenged, or are not aware that there are actually phones out there that can not accept MMS messages (cause the majority can) The simple fact is, that it is pretty bad that you pay a ton of money for an "advanced" phone like the iPhone and it will not even do all the same things, or accept messages from the free phone your friends have!!!! It is even more frustrating when the capability is there, but for some reason (that has never been explained) the wishes of many customers are ignored when it could very easily be fixed.

The only way that I can explain it is ELITISM," I can do it thorough E-mail on this phone, so we are better than MMS, so we refuse to acknowledge that it exists and some of our customers contacts like to use it and refuse to do it through E-mail".

so we should hold on advancing technology because your friends are "too technologically challenged" or you cant simply call your friends to tell them to send to your email address instead. its really not that hard to do. But, if this is a big thing to fight with Apple about, go ahead, fight away. And, when AT&T charges you per month to use MMS, so you can pay even more towards this expensive device, i'll enjoy my cheaper rate per month and still be able to send and receive pictures because emailing is free.
