MMS/ Picture Messaging

Does the new iPhone support MMS??? If no, WHY? This is a normal function that all phones being produced in our world of technology have. I have a original iPhone that I purchased almost a year ago. And when the warrenty is up, I'm just thinking about getting a blackberry. Just because the iPhone does not support normal fetures. What are the pros and cons if I do this? Also, if i chose to go with another type of phone, will I still be able to use the iPod part of the iPhone?

Dell, Windows Vista

Already answered with my first post in this thread.

+Ask the person to address the MMS to an email address for an email account that you access with the iPhone's Mail client. They will enter your email address in the To: field for the MMS instead of your cell phone number with area code.+

+The MMS will be received by you as an email with the photo attached to the message, which you can also access with the email client used on your computer for accessing the email account or via webmail access for the account using a browser.+

+This will give you the sender's cell phone MMS email address.+

+Add this email address to the contact's information in your iPhone's address book.+

+Attach a photo to an email message and address the email to this email address.+

+The email will be received by the recipient as an MMS.+

so you are saying that while we are playing around trying to get photos to send/receive from the above instrustions, at&t is going to charge us extra, above the price we're already paying for unlimited interenet access??
I've been able to send a picture to a motorola phone using the mms.att.net stuff. Not got it to work for someone to send me a MMS photo.

However, I agree with other folks, with the cost of the iphone, I'm disappointed to find out that it has no video mode for the camera either.
I gave up a phone with other capabilites not included on the iphone.

Thats exactly what I'm say - AT&T would love to add another fee to their plans. They've already jacked up the price on text messages - simple little text messages with the relase of the 3G phone - don't you think think they would love to add yet another fee to their plans for some MMS service??

I'm fine with them adding that fee - it's something I would not pay for at all - I'd just use email - just my opinion - most of my friends have iphones - so it's not a big deal to email the photos -

No.

Sending/receiving email via an email account that you access with the iPhone's Mail client is included with your unlimited data plan.

Not got it to work for someone to send me a MMS photo.

The person needs to address the MMS to an email address for an email account that you access with the iPhone's Mail client. They enter your email address in the To: field for the MMS instead of your cell phone number and area code. This goes against the sender's SMS/MMS allowance but any email received or sent by your via the iPhone's Mail client is included with your unlimited data plan.

I want MMS as well. Email is not an acceptable option. I want MMS or bust. I want an iPhone, can afford one and any plan, but I'm not buying one until it's a suitable replacement for my current cell phone and it's not. MMS is a social application that is necessary. I would imagine there are a lot of unhappy iPhone buyers that didn't know it didn't have MMS before they bought it. Wouldn't you think that the (supposed) most advanced (sarcastic) phone in the world would have MMS? I mean you can go out and buy the cheapest pay as you go phone out there and it will have MMS. Apple really makes me upset over this one. This is the only basic cell phone function that is keeping an iPhone out of my pocket.

i absolutely 100% agree with everything u say but unfortunately alot of your country men/women dont want it as i know it costs u alot more than us brits, but what i say is support us who want it (like send in feedback) because even if u have it on your iphone u dont need to use it do u?? so why not back the ones who want it... in the UK not many people use email on their mobiles, i dont have any friends or family who would email me pics or who i could email pics back we are used to MMS, i find it bizarre that it is not a standard feature in fact when the 3g was introduced i assumed MMS was a standard feature i was stunned it was not the most basic cheapest mobile have MMS...this issue is making me angry about it..if i were u i would not buy an iphone until it is on it thru an update..

Speak for yourself! The MMS system as it is now is horrible. Many of my contacts don't check the email on their phone, and they don't care to input an email address if they want to send me a quick snap. Every other phone I've owned can do this simple task. And having to memorize a passcode is horrible too since I can't COPY AND PASTE the passcode into notes and then into the website. MMS is very necessary IMO as well as video messaging. It's a staple in my everyday life.
