Dual Layer Dvds

I have a Intel Core Duo iMAC White One, With a ATAPI Burner in it supports CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW, I am running 10.5.3, My big question is, why when I rip a movie, and I want to back it up, onto a Dual Layer DVD, I always get errors, I get them with Toast 9 and I get them with any other Burning app I try and use, So what's the Problem here, I can burn any movie I rip at 4.7 Gb but any movie over that, and when I try and use a DVD+R DL it will not work, and as you can see this mac surely supports it, so what is the problem ? I know it's not the app I'm using, because anything that's 4GB works fine, so therefore it could not be the App/Software I'm using, thats not the Problem. I'm just stumped as to why this is not working, I haven't tried any data yet, so who knows if that will fail as well.

Well yes and No, I tried it on my PC with Burning a Dual Layer movie, Onto a Windata DISK 8.5 It worked till it got to the END, much further then the MAC got, Then it just stopped, maybe It would have let it sit longer it would have finished who know's, but With my iMAC I've tried it forever with 4.7gb disks worked like a charm until today, just burned a Movie, and now it wont even read any blank DVDs, and NOO IT"S NOT THE MEDIA like you all think, Check out this POST from someone else --

( In my Disk Recording Log I am getting the message of "Burn error: 0x8002006D The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media. Power calibration area error". I have tried Maxwell, Memorex, and HP disk so far with the same results. )

So you see it's not the brand, if this guy tried all of them, then if it's the MEDIA! like you all say, why has it not worked Hmmmm ??

Not to knock on Apple I LOVE them, but They have the BEST OS but Fail to get Quality Parts for there Computers, i've had problems with screens many of times, and now with this Burner, COME ON 😟 APPLE

Well I have a right just like anyone else does, And I'm not taking cheap shots at ya ( The Whining & wasting our Time ) just trying to say in a nice way I don't think it's the MEDIA, if it was then why do some other people have probs with GOOD Media hmmm ?? And yes maybe it is the Drive, I'll go and get it checked out, but all in all it could be a number of Problems. Ooh well Thanks anyway to everyone who check this out.
