Logic & Tiger vs. Logic & Leopard

Is it risky to install Logic Studio if I don't have the latest version of Mac? I'm reading directions & it says "If necessary, you should update your system software to ensure you have the latest version of Mac OS X."

I have Tiger 10.4.11 -- but will it be a problem receiving Logic updates if I don't have Leopard?

Thanks!!

MacBook Pro 17", Mac OS X (10.4.11)

So: new CLEAN install, this time booting from DVD and erasing everything again. Never installed Logic nor any update.

That's your problem right there. 10.5.0, .1, .2, had a lot of problems, graphic issues, etc. but if you had done all of the software updates to 10.5.3 or 10.5.4, including all the graphics updates and what not, you probably would have seen an increase in performance back up to what you were used to in Tiger. I upgraded from Tiger on the same machine, and with 10.5.3 and 10.5.4, it's fast and crisp, and runs Logic really well.

The first time I tried I get it working, but it was late night and was going to sleep, so after transfer my files from the backup and check them (not tried Logic) I let Sofware Update to update everything... Then all was working, even Waveburner and Soundtrack, but there´s no way to make Logic work... not even from the backup nor trashing preferences... anything... Then I tried for a second time.... I´ll try 8.02

The same thing happen on my VERY OLD Power MAC G5 with 10.5.4!!!

I have Leopard installed in a slower Bus... it is installed in IDE ATA133 buss of my G5... (2 ATA Hard drive striped RAID 0 run on the G5 ata 133 buss instead Superdrive... that has been removed and it works on Firewire bus)

Logic 8.0.2 works better on Leopard on the same computer.

(Spotligth features has been disabled on Leopard and Tiger too... Journaling has been disabled too)

there are many background process on Leopard that requier a lot of CPU power...
this kind of process are not useful... are not helpful...

they are not required in a recording studio...

So

Disable all features that work in background...

Leopard + Logic 8.0.2 gives you the best higest quality on digital audio conversion...
This is ONLY my personal opinion!

... but Leopard core audio... SOUNDS soooooooo good 😉
