Exchange Setup/iPhone 2.0

Doesn't seem to be as easy as it looks...I'm probably just missing something small somewhere.

Has anyone had any success in setting it up yet?

I have a standard Exchange installation, using a self generated certificate and I synced just fine, eveything was really smooth. I have discovered that I need to turn off push though and pull every 30 minutes or else it is doing too much data transfer and blocking incoming calls.

I have found this but still no joy

http://blog.fosketts.net/2008/07/10/how-to-set-up-iphone-exchange-activesync/

It says :

Make sure you enter your ActiveSync server name, not the OWA server (as in Entourage) or the real Exchange server (as in Outlook).

I've manager setup remote exchange access via Entourage using https://www.mydomain.co.uk/exchange as the server.

Does anyone know what the ActiveSync server name would be? I've tried www.mydomain.co.uk and have had no joy.

thanks

I can't seem to get it to work. Put all the info in but get a failure message each time. I thought you were suppose to be able to do this with going through the IT department. Can anyone please post the eaxct steps they took on their iPhone to make it work and whether anything had to be done on the server side to get it to work. Thanks.

Ok so I spent about an hour on this and it is FINALLY working. First let me give you a quick rundown of our system here. Keep in mind I am a programmer but I've done a little administation. We are not running a front-end server here. We just have one exchange 2003 box but it is configured for HTTP-RPC. We also have a self-signed certificate.

The first thing I noticed is that in Exchange System Manager-Global Settings-Mobile Services/Properties, Outlook Mobile Access was not enabled. I checked both boxes. After still no luck, I found some links that had me make a copy of Exchange in IIS, and import as Exchange-oma then unchecking require SSL. After making a suggested registry entry, I had to go toggle SSL back on in the iPhone. I had switched it off troubleshooting, but once I changed it back, I got a couple certificate error prompts, and after hitting accept I finally started seeing folders/mail on the iPhone.

Here are the links for the steps to create the virtual dir, and registry entry:
IIS: http://www.chicagotech.net/troubleshooting/activesync2.htm
Registry: http://www.chicagotech.net/troubleshooting/activesync3.htm

I'm sure there are varied issues with everyone, but hopefully this will help someone.

I read in some of the AT&T docs that there were 2 different data plans. 1 was unlimited data and the other was unlimited with Exchange and advanced networking functions for like $10-$15 more each month. I'm having problems setting up exchange and have an original iPhone with 2.0 software installed. Do I have to contact AT&T to get the enhanced data plan possibly? The people that are successfully setting up, are you using an iPhone 3G with the new data plan?
