iPhone 2.0 software and Bluetooth

I am sooo disappointed in the new software. I've successfully used my first generation iPhone with software 1.1.4 with my new Dodge uConnect system ($1,500 sound and bluetooth). Until today.

Upgraded my iPhone to version 2.0. Upgrade failed and got repeated error codes through iTunes. No big deal, I was on my way to Apple store to buy new 3G phone. 5 hours later, have new phone, and apple specialist fixed the original. New phone unable to use with uConnect. It pairs, but doesn't find the phone (?). Called Apple. They said they don't support auto bluetooth devices. (nice to know). Gave 3G phone to son, reactivated my original phone to me - still does not work.

Here I am $500 and one full day later and now there are TWO phones that won't connect to my system. PLEASE FIX THE BLUETOOTH!!!

You are all going to laugh at my solution ...

My son, also got a new iPhone 3G. Gave his first gen iPhone to his wife. I took HER Samsung phone, activated it as a line on my family share plan. Since I didn't need to buy a telephone ... there is no 2 year contract on it.

I leave the Samsung in the car, paired to my uConnect (Dodge product). Now when I get into the car, I forward my calls from the iPhone to the number for the Samsung.

It's a pain in the neck, but it works.

Apple ... if Nokia's phones, and Samsung's phones, and LG's phone are all able to pair with their automobile bluetooth connection kits, Apple should be able to do this as well. Version 1.1.4 of the software worked fine ... so please do something to make this work QUICKLY. You have too many customers that need this to work!

Susie,

I think the BT issues with both releases of the iPhone are much bigger than we all think or know about and Apple has had over a year to fix these issues and hasn't. Do we wait for the 4G or what?

A lot of issues not addressed from BT to voice activated dialing to text to speech.

A year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apple's better than this and I'm very happy I didn't upgrade to 3G

I just upgraded my original iphone to the new 2.0 software. i went to listen to a voicemail and it will only play on speaker. In the older software i had three options:audio, speaker and my bluetooth. You got to the other options by taping the butoon on the top left, but it is stuck in speaker mode. this is hoorendous, i need to be able to listen to voicemail through my bluetooth as i am on the road alot!!!

We have a 2007 Dodge Charger SRT8 with UConnect. Connectivity worked just fine with both of our first gen iPhones PRE-2.0 upgrade.

Post 2.0 upgrade neither iPhone connects with UConnect. Both phones appear to pair, but alas, will not connect. Among Bluetooth connectivity issue post upgrade: intermittent email connectivity (no longer auto-checks email); volume control issue; slower downloads and refresh rates; frequent restart required, low battery life, etc.; and oddly enough, after the upgrade some contacts mysteriously migrated to the Photos application.

Tried Apple via phone and in-store a few times and were told to make an appointment with Genius Bar. So we did. Met with the good folks at the Genius Bar and were told they were UNAWARE of any issue(s) with the 2.0 upgrade. Keep in mind this was yesterday, 07/21/08. Imagine their complete surprise when we pointed them to their very own website for ongoing discussions regarding this matter. Fast forward >> the end result was, or rather, their best suggestion was to PURCHASE a new headset and "TRY" that. Now that's Genius! But we don't need a 4th headset, thank you very much. OR of course we could just wait for the next upgrade or patch, but no one seemed to have any clue as to just how long that might be. Wonderful! But how could they? Our complaint was the first they've heard of it anyway... :-S

Although our patience is running thin... at least one of us has decided to wait for a fix. The other one, and I won’t say who, has a propensity for smashing things to little bits when they don't function properly, as required, as promised. We’re working on that.

+Please Apple, as disappointed as this post might sound, we would be thrilled for an expeditious solution in order to keep our beloved iPhones.+

*And finally, we have been made aware of a rumor going ‘round that Apple will only escalate a solution when enough voices have been heard. Please everyone, SPEAK UP NOW or forever hold your bits!*

I also have a 2008 Chrysler 300 and cannot connect properly since the 2.0 software upgrade. It will phone pair no problem when setting up, However it will not recognize my phone. I drive alot so I left the blue tooth on my iphone. All of a sudden it randomly started working in my car on various calls. When I stopped the car, it would not reconnect. Called in to tech support, they had me reset phone, put into airiplane mode on then off - then restore the iphone entirely. I did so then called back tech support paired and repaired the phone twice - did synch, but again would not recognize my iphone. Tried with tech turning off wifi and reset network settings, still doesn't work! Any answers out there? Do we need to wait for 2.1? I am out in California - it is the law to go handsfree. Need a fix for this!
