iPhone 3G apps crash on startup and cause iPhone to restart

I have found that when starting up some apps on my new iPhone (important: doesn't matter which apps) that they fail to start up and crash back to the iPhone 'desktop'. When this happens, try as I might, they almost ALL seem to do this, until finally the iPhone takes it upon itself to restart (which takes longer than a normal restart. However, after the restart, the apps work again! This sometimes happens after the iPhone has been 'asleep' for a while, but not always. It's as if just opening new apps is too much for it, or that other processes going on in the iPhone are crashing with the apps.
Anybody else having this?
(I have other issues with this new phone here in the UK - see my other posts).

Here is my story.

The phone was acting up, some are o the touch screen was not recognizing touch in some areas, so I powered down, stared back up, but just hung at the startup screen (apple). I let it go for a good 10 min, then held down the two buttons to reset the phone. Booted up and then the phone said it was activated, what? OK, then the app crash thing happened. No 3rd party apps would work, only apple apps worked.

Restart did not help, reset did not help. I looked here on this thread. I deleted a free 3rd party app and then I plugged it into the comp. synced, and bingo, all was OK. The app is still gone, so I do not think that was the problem. I believe now it was some sort of DRM crap (like some others have said) that when the phone was activated, it needed to be connected up to the iTunes acct for things to work again.

Very odd that it went through activating again, and the screen is fine now...

Hi all,
Posting this so if it happens to someone else they know they are not the only one.

I used to have the "apps crash" problem but found a quick delete and reinstall or an upgrade to a 3rd party app would fix this. However last night an app crashed on my phone and would not restart properly so I turned my 16Gb 3G off/on, it then hung on the logo. Plugged into iTunes, was not recognized so held down Home and On button until it showed up in iTunes in recovery mode, restored to original then restored from backup. No 3rd party app will work. Have tried every method in this thread and so far no luck. I have updated apps, deleted apps, reinstalled apps, deauthorized computer, reauthorized computer. I have spoken to Apple who assure me that it is a DRM problem but so far all they can tell me is to deauthorize/reauthorize computer.

If this happens to you, good luck as I cannot find a cure.

A SOLUTION that worked for me:

Hi,

I have had this problem todays too. At first, wikipanion crashed on every startup, others worked fine. Then later, any 3rd party app crashed on startup, similar to the other posters here.

To make it short, the third google result brought to me a solution that worked for me:

I have just installed a free app (in this case, the Amazon app 😉 ) and what should i say? It worked!

So long, good luck 🙂
