AppStore problems; Apps don't launch

This is turning into an absolute farce, as if the problems on launch day weren't bad enough.

I have purchased two applications today through the iPhone's AppStore, and both times I have the same problem - which I have seen other people talking about as well: The applications downloaded but then took a very long time during the "Installing" phase, and then once that had finished, they won't start.

Tapping on their icons just makes the iPhone pause, and then I get chucked straight back to the home screen.

I have tried deleting them and re-installing: same problem. I am also getting frequent "App Store is not available" messages and timeouts when browsing apps, from this I am guessing that the app tries to contact the store during the final part of the "installing" phase, times out, and leaves a broken application installed.

So, not really making a very good impression at the moment. I assume that as I can re-download applications, I haven't actually lost any money but it still makes the whole thing look like a complete shambles.

Same problem here. Apps don't work. Aurora Feint bumps me back to the home screen. Jott freezes, won't record, won't go back to home screen, I have to hold down the sleep button and then wake it up. I don't think it's the sync, or else it's a delayed reaction. My last sync was about 3PM. My daughter was playing Aurora Feint at 7PM, put it away for dinner, and it wouldn't work at 8PM.

Hmm... If it's not the sync then I'm not sure what the issue is. I deleted all of the apps I downloaded then redownloaded and everything is wowking fine now. I'm afraid to try syncing with my computer again. Did any one get an Apple support rep on the phone? I'm wondering if there might be another common denominator. Does everyone experiencing this problem have Jott installed? My own problem started after I started setting up an account.

Never mind my last entry. I got it.
I, too, followed the steps by DaneBlankenship and it works fine. It was the first time I had synced, and in so doing, I had to accept new terms & conditions for iTunes when downloading an app. I don't know if that has anything to do with the apps not launching, but maybe you have to accept them first for them to work?

Just a thought to a frustrating problem.
Now, if anyone knows why my purchased music won't play on my iPhone......????

When you say you are having the same problem, do you mean the app problem or the music not playing on your iPhone problem?

I fixed both by:
* Syncing my phone
* Deleting the apps in iTunes
* Resyncing to remove apps from phone
* Adding apps in iTunes from the store
* This required me to accept new terms and conditions
* I synced the phone, and new apps were there, they worked, and I was able to add more apps directly from the phone that worked.
* If you meant the music problem, these steps (namely accepting the terms and conditions) fixed the problem of not being able to hear purchased music on the iPhone.

The same steps are listed in the third post in this list.

Hi all,

I have been having the same issue as well.
My workaround for this is to turn the phone off completely and restarting it. Once I restart it everything works fine.

However after I run a bunch of apps, the problem will start to appear again in which case I have to reboot the phone again. Its kind of pain.

To turn the phone off, press and hold the "sleep" button till the option to power of the phone is displayed. Then turn back on by pressing the button again till the apple logo appears.

Hope this helps. And if anyone know of a better fix out there, please share.
