AppStore problems; Apps don't launch

This is turning into an absolute farce, as if the problems on launch day weren't bad enough.

I have purchased two applications today through the iPhone's AppStore, and both times I have the same problem - which I have seen other people talking about as well: The applications downloaded but then took a very long time during the "Installing" phase, and then once that had finished, they won't start.

Tapping on their icons just makes the iPhone pause, and then I get chucked straight back to the home screen.

I have tried deleting them and re-installing: same problem. I am also getting frequent "App Store is not available" messages and timeouts when browsing apps, from this I am guessing that the app tries to contact the store during the final part of the "installing" phase, times out, and leaves a broken application installed.

So, not really making a very good impression at the moment. I assume that as I can re-download applications, I haven't actually lost any money but it still makes the whole thing look like a complete shambles.

Do you have any information that this procedure permanently fixes the app no-launch problem? I'm not sure how interesting this is if apps break again in an hour ... or even every other day.

Sadly, this really puts a damper on being able to use Flashlight in an emergency... o.0 ...without my iPhone apps, I may have to go level my 400th Hunter...

I had the same problem with all apps starting Monday (I have a 2G 8GB). Before that, they all worked since Friday. I fixed it today by deleting the apps from the iPhone and then resyncing with iTunes, which reloaded them. The following apps were fixed using this method:

Remote, eBay, Truveo, Cro-Mag, and Monkey Ball.

I did these sequencially, resyncing after deleted each item. Only after I deleted the app and then reloaded it from iTurns did it start working.

Before this, I tried reloading my phone yesterday, and that didn't do it. I've also rebooted the phone, to no avail. The method above is the only thing that has worked, and I suspect the problem will eventually return. I'm guessing, but I think apps are getting corrupted, and thre will be a new update eventaully to fix this.

When I buy an app, I do it on my iphone. When I sync with my computer (I plug in often to recharge) any new apps are:
1) copied to my computer's itunes "backup" of apps
2) no longer work on my iphone.
I delete the new apps, then re-add them to the iphone, and they work.

I would typically state that this is not what I would expect from an apple system, but after spending 2 hours bouncing from AT&T and apple care to get voicemail activated, I'm not so sure...

Well, I tried your delete and resync method. I get the following message from iTunes:

Some of the applications in your iTunes library, including "xxxx", were not installed o the iPhone "MrBoBo's iPhone" because you are *not authorized* for them on this computer.

What the ....? I bought the apps from my iPhone. A few days ago, I synch'ed them to this computer with no problem. Yesterday, I restored my iPhone from this computer with on problem (and, yes, the apps were restored to my iPhone). Now, synch wants to tell me I can't put them back on my iPhone after a delete? Whatta joke. And, true to form, Apple's error messages provide no help in resolving whatever problem iTunes is having.

I'm definitely not buying any more of these tweeky apps. The operating system (iPhone's) can't even handle them and iTunes support of them is a joke.

Update: Okay, so I went to iTunes->Library->Applications and clicked on an app. I get a prompt asking if I want to authorize this computer for the apps. I say yes and get a message that "5 of 5 computers" are now authorized. I've never done any app authorization for any of my computers. What's more, this computer was already authorized for all music and video I purchses from the iTunes store. Nice.

I then try to resynch and:

The application "iMahjong" was not installed on iPhone "MrBoBo's iPhone" because *an unknown error occurred* (0xE8000022).

ahahahahahahha go go iPhone, iTunes, and iPhone apps... you're the bestest. ahahahhahaha

I had these problems after trying to download apps for the first time to a EDGE iphone, first of all i had to upgrade to 2.0, then download apps, paid for and free.

After sync, they appeareed ok on my iphone homescreen but when i launched them the screen went black for 2 seconds then reverted back to homescreen.

Annoyed, I called o2 first, they were no use, just told me to restart fone, to no avail, then told me to call apple.

So I did, I tried a soft reset as they suggested, again did not work.

But they suggested I simply delete all 3rd party apps from iphone then re-sync to itunes on my home computer.

I finally got home and tried this and lo and behold they all now work.

So thanks apple.

I do think that the problem for me arose when i synced after downloading he apps, as it seemed to take about a half hour, very slow.

So i kinda knew somthin was wrong.

But anyways, hope some others can try this before a hard reset which would mean losing contacts, messages, email login info, wifi login info, photos etc.

Hope i save some of u some time.

It works. One additional item - when you re-sync with iTunes that second time it asks you to accept the terms and conditions, my husband and I have both fixed our apps by accepting the T&C that first time. All other apps downloaded to iphone or itunes now work - no issues!!!

It the Terms & Conditions acceptance that is the hang-up when downloading apps from iphone - it doesn't prompt you to accept.

Hope this helps everyone.

2.0 software is so buggy when it comes to running apps it is simply unacceptable.

App bounce back to home screen
Phone stuck in Apple logo screen
Incomplete app install that keeps trying to install only to slow down the phone
Applications that won't delete

Multiple hard reset and complete restore only resolve some of the above temporarily.
This is the most bug filled software release by Apple in a long time.

I just started having this problem as well. Wondering if any one else is getting the following error when the sync starts:

The application MDCrashReportTool quit unexpectedly

I get that every time I start a new sync so I'm wondering if it's related.

What really annoys me is the fact that every time I sync now, iTunes wants to do a backup...and that takes a long time.

I have had the same prob with Aurora feint. It loads, I can play, but after that if I quit the game and then later try to reload it it just bumps me to the home screen, I have to then delete from phone and then reinstall. Again, it will only work one time. Pity because it is a good passe-temps, and visually attractive--more than bejewelled. Any solutions yet?
