AppStore problems; Apps don't launch

This is turning into an absolute farce, as if the problems on launch day weren't bad enough.

I have purchased two applications today through the iPhone's AppStore, and both times I have the same problem - which I have seen other people talking about as well: The applications downloaded but then took a very long time during the "Installing" phase, and then once that had finished, they won't start.

Tapping on their icons just makes the iPhone pause, and then I get chucked straight back to the home screen.

I have tried deleting them and re-installing: same problem. I am also getting frequent "App Store is not available" messages and timeouts when browsing apps, from this I am guessing that the app tries to contact the store during the final part of the "installing" phase, times out, and leaves a broken application installed.

So, not really making a very good impression at the moment. I assume that as I can re-download applications, I haven't actually lost any money but it still makes the whole thing look like a complete shambles.

I'm glad to discover I'm not the only one with this issue! I first encountered this issue during the first week of ownership and was forced to reinstall all my apps. I dismissed the bug as an isolated issue and that it would probably never happen again.

Three weeks later all my appstore apps were broken (would crash after initial load, then throw me back to the home screen) AFTER a sync. I could not afford to reinstall ALL my apps and loose all my data over again so I did some fooling around and found a temp fix that worked for me...

I deleted one of my appstore apps. I choose to delete knots because its a game & saves no data. After uninstalling knots I went to the AppStore and installed knots again. The freshly downloaded version of knots worked AND ALL my other app store apps started working immediately too!

Apparently the issue is related directly to the AppStore application and NOT the appstore apps themselves or app data. I compared the deleted knots app files with the new knots app files and they were the same 🙂.

I hope apple resolves this issue soon. I'd hate for anyone else to perform an unnecessary reinstallation process :/.

I get the same problem everytime i SYNC the apps stopped working
first time was when i had the phone first day installed some apps synced later and they stopped working
i reset all my settings then deleted a game then they all started working

synced few days later happened again tried reseting all settings thinking that would work
i then deleted the Facebook app and reinstalled as that is my most common app then all of them worked again ....
silly bug tbh one that should of been fixed by now espectially if its been happening since 2.0
