If someone knows how to do this can you please post instructions. I could not figure out how; I was expecting to be able to do it in a fashion similar to how it's done under Leopard or even Tiger(the workaround).
I just had a chance to mess around with this again...so here is my update:
I can connect to our internal wifi now...i still can not get a connection going through DHCP but i was able to connect by selecting STATIC and entering all the information in manually...if you can get a hold of on of the IT guys and just ask him/her for the info needed in each line and see if you can get connected...the only thing is you would need and IP address that isn't being use on your network...
All in all it should NOT be this way...DHCP should work and set everything for you...i'm still testing my connection to see if everything works ok...
I am currently working with APPLE engineers concerning this...Google eapolclient...The Macbooks were having the same issue UNTIL they released the 10.5.5 firmware update...now the MacBooks can connect to our LEAP network with no problems...the iPhone uses the same eapolclient...

Can anyone confirm that this issue has been resolved in the 2.2 firmware update?
Not yet...I have sent an email requesting the status of my case with the Apple engineers if this has been added to the 2.2 firmware...i will post the response as soon as i get it from Apple...
This has not been resolved...the contact person handeling my case can not confirm if they got any update into the new 2.2 firmware (go figure)...i have updated to 2.2 and still cannot connect to our wireless via LEAP...
For some reason this works even though the network is just a plain old LEAP WEP-based network. Now if anyone can tell me how to get my MacBook Pro onto the LEAP network that would be great. Nothing I tried works for it.
Things you DO need.
An account with username/password so you can connect to the companies network via LEAP. If you can't connect via wi-fi on your laptop. It won't work on your phone.
Create a new wi-fi connection under settings.
Use WPA Enterprise.
Use the same username/password you use to connect to WI-FI on your laptop.
Put in the domain you are connecting too. Usually the name.com or @.
If you comapny uses a digital certificate with LEAP you're prob out of luck.
If you get a connection and it still shows 3G, shut down the Iphone and reconnect.
If it hangs at trying to connect, shut the phone down (power off) and then try again.
Where did you enter the data for:
"Put in the domain you are connecting too. Usually the name.com or @."
I only see the following fields in "Other Network" settings:
a) Name (name of network)
b) Security = "WPA Enterprise"
c) username (username used to connect via LEAP)
d) password (password used to connect via LEAP)
When I enter the above fields, the iphone never connects to leap and just continuously tries to login.
Just tried again, hoping the new iPhone OS 3.0 fixed something in the LEAP software.
Sad to say it still does not connect. I tried both the enterprise profile way, and the WPA Enterprise method. When I enter the username/password, I get this soon after=:
