iphone 2.0 and Mercedes Bluetooth HFP Cradle

Since I upgraded to Version 2.0 of the Iphone software the Iphone will no function correctly with the Mercedes Benz COMAND unit via bluetooth. Before the 2.0 upgrade the phone worked perfectly with the Mercedes Bluetooth HFP Cradle and the COMAND unit, since the upgrade the address book will not upload and you cannot control the phone from the steering wheel buttons in the car. Anybody/Apple support, any ideas if it is possible to get around this issue or when it will be resolved?

I to have just upgraded my software and my Iphone will no longer download my address book to the Mercedes Bluetooth system that was working perfectly before. I have tried un-pairing and re discovering as advised by my helpful Mercedes dealer but that made no difference. Tomorrow I have a One to One lesson in the apple store, guess what me first question will be. If I have to I will use time machine to go back to the old software if possible as I am very annoyed by this. Let's hope I get a better solution. Will let you know.

Hi Guys.

I have noticed many of you haveing a problem with you mercedes cars and the HFP Unit.

www.itjustworks.co.uk

I have got the ViseeO Bluetooth car cradle kit for my car, very similar to the HFP unit but can be upgraded and some oher really good features like allowing you to manually transfer your contacts to the comand screen etc.

Anyway to cut a long story short.

This unit works 100% fine with the New Apple IPHONE V2.0.

THE PHONEBOOK LOADS, ALL CONTROLS WORK 100%.

The only problem is that the contacts are duplicated which i have been told will be resolved on next upgrade and all customer who have units that need upgrading will have this done for them for free

If you have the HFP you will be looking for the VIseeO MBU-2000 and can be bought from www.itjustworks.co.uk

Hi All, Not good news I'm afraid, The Apple store "Tecies" tried all they could to sort the problem but the bottom line is there is a major glitch with the new update. It affects all Mercedes and BMW cars and worse is you can't even backdate to the previous setup using time machine till they sort it out. The feeling was this is a very bad problem and something will be done - watch and pester for updates. In the meantime for me this is bad as am self employed and often access my address book in car, come on Apple I feel robbed of a good device. My son now has his eye on my Iphone! I have looked on itjustworks.co.uk but why should I pay £180ish for a new cradle when my old one (Mercedes own) worked fine last week?

Thanks for the update; certainly better than what I got from Apple!

They suggested I should speak to Mercedes as it's their hardware that would need to change! They didn't seem to understand that surely it's easier for Apple to change their software than for Mercedes to change their hardware - particularly as it was working fine last week before the 2.0 upgrade.

Come and Apple - very poor show!

I beleive this is a problem with the 2.0 iphone and the 3g as i think it is the software itself (v2.0). This may not be 1005 accurate but my research shows this.

With regardss to the viseeO product itself.

It will work in USA if you have an MHI connector - in UK we call it the UHI connector. They are the same and people in America use the ViseeO product just fine.

as for value for money - i guess it just depends on how badly you want to use your iphone in your car.

Well I'm another dissatisfied Merc/Apple customer. My iPhone worked fine in my E-Class until I upgraded to V2.0 software last week, since when I've not been able to access my 'phone book and calls list. Up until now I've become sold on Apple, because their kit just works, but this is making me rethink my proposed switch from pc to iMac. This is a safety issue as much as anything else. We certainly don't want to have to revert to manually accessing contacts through the iPhone itself whilst driving. To suggest that it's a Merc hardware issue is laughable - anyone fancy paying upwards of £2k for a new COMAND system? Come on Apple SORT IT OUT!

to suggest it is a merc hardware issue would be the truth becuase it is.

if merc had made thier kit able to be upgraded then you wouldnt have this problem.

suote simple really, i use the viseeo kit in my mercedes, had it upgraded yesterday and i can access all contact etc through my comand system. there is no longer the issue where your contacts appear twice each on the comand screen either.

so lets be fair, you cannot blame apple completely when clearly mercedes is just as much to blame
