iphone 2.0 and Mercedes Bluetooth HFP Cradle

Since I upgraded to Version 2.0 of the Iphone software the Iphone will no function correctly with the Mercedes Benz COMAND unit via bluetooth. Before the 2.0 upgrade the phone worked perfectly with the Mercedes Bluetooth HFP Cradle and the COMAND unit, since the upgrade the address book will not upload and you cannot control the phone from the steering wheel buttons in the car. Anybody/Apple support, any ideas if it is possible to get around this issue or when it will be resolved?

Well, I was another Apple fan that the company has just p*ssed off. OK, I accept that the 3G iphone now won't charge in my '56 Merc CLK, as they have cheapo'd the handset and cut the 12V firewire charging pins (conveniently used by many car systems). And that the battery on 3G doesn't last a day if I actually USE the phone - so I guess I'd have to shell out for a charger, even though the iPod Merc integration did it perfectly well on the old one.
I foolishly upgraded to firmware 2.0 on my iPhone EDGE, and discovered that neither it (that worked perfectly on 1.1.4) or the bl**dy 3G works with the Merc hardware now. Nice one, Apple!

In fact, I have gone back to my iPhone EDGE. It's smaller. Its battery lasts. It charges in the car (and on my Bose sound dock). Thanks to Apple's refusal to allow you to roll back the firmware, you have to hack the phone to restore it (the firmware is easy, but you have to downgrade the baseband as well - from 4.05.04_G to 4.04.05_G). Still, now I've been introduced to iPhone hacking I'm not dependant on Apple any more - yay!

I'll be on EDGE until Apple can make their 2.0 firmware work in my car. I refuse to upgrade the Merc hardware - Apple caused this problem with their firmware, so they can sort it out. Don't hold your breath though!

My new iPhone 2.0 has terrible connectivity with my ML65 AMG Bluetooth (SAP-Profile) unit. There is constant static noise, it cuts in and out, and I have to turn the volume up to max each time I use the phone. If I switch to using the phone directly, or using speaker phone, the person I am calling says the signal is fine. Switched from a Motorola Krazer, which worked perfectly. Switching service from Verizon to AT&T also *****. But even when I had poor/weak reception on Verizon the sound via the my in-car Bluetooth system was sharp and clear. And BTW, my phone list syncs just fine. Anyone having the same poor signal issue? Any ideas? Hardware issue?

You're just wrong.

To say it's an Apple problem is absolutely true, check the web, there are thousands of Merc, BMW, Alfa Romeo etc etc owners who are experiencing the same problem. My 1.1.4 phone synced the phonebook with my Alfa Brera and worked perfectly, since getting the 3G it doesn't sync at all and the connection stability is terrible.

It simply IS an Apple problem.
