iPhone 3G Lag is intolerable! Video examples included.

Depends on the problem exactly. For example, the initial Contacts lag is affecting EVERYONE, there are no exceptions - iPhone 2G and 3G and iPod touch. Basically any device running iPhone Software 2.0. For other problems, they might be harder to reproduce but eventually you will hit the specific case which triggers the bug / performance regression. So the answer is yes, it affects absolutely everyone and there are no exceptions.

Yea, I got the problem too, it's worst when typing text messages, some key presses have up to 2 seconds lag, but the phone still registers the inputs so you can type on and the message still get typed, annoying as heck.
Hopefully we'll get an update soon, so far I've refrained from updating to an unreleased firmware.

Same exact problems ... with iPhone 3G

add me to the list. Typing out a text message is now a total joke, massive lag between hitting a virtual key and the letter appearing. Don't know why it's suddenly got worse.

I have similar experience, 2.0 on an Version 1, somewhat slow.. contacts, sms, I am loosing the productivity I gained with previous version...

Apple pls dont let us down like Mircrosoft on crapp software....

I experienced this for the first time today as well (Black 16GB iPhone 3G, new firmware).

I am also thinking this is a memory management issue (as stated by someone above, earlier)...I noticed the lag in my contacts while composing a SMS text, after I had been using different apps (Facebook, Fluther, SMS, and Camera). But, when I stopped my text and went back to all the above apps and held the home button down to quit each app, the lag was gone.

I thought the 3rd party apps were supposed to quit upon exit, but maybe there is a lag or bug that is preventing that in the current software. I sent feedback nonetheless; hopefully this issue is fixed soon...

The solution is to not use apps. Just like the solution to slow 3g is to turn off 3g. Gas costs a lot and the solution is to start walking 20 miles to work. I have cancer so the solution is to die of cancer.

Glad to see someone posted this. I'm having the same problem and it's so hard to use the phone while on the go with this lag!!! ANYONE FROM APPLE PLEASE HELP US!!

I am experiencing the lag an I only have 47 contacts loaded.

I've experienced the lag with txt messages and yesterday it happened when trying to write an email... I hope they release a new update soon...

I have to say that once my ipod touch was upgraded to 2.0 it was great to start with, but it is really starting to get annoying, everything is just slightly slow, to the point wehere it gets more and more irritating over time. Mine is a 16G loaded with 12G of music. 2 contacts (:

I have an I phone 3g 8 gig, with about 5,000 contacts, and 1.8 gigs free space. I had the same sluggish interface behavior, primary in the phone and contacts modules. After much experimentation, I have a workaround on the mac platform, which I will detail as follows:

1. Restore your iphone to the latest 2.0 firmware
2. In Itunes, when asked, do not restore from backup of previous iphone
3. Instead, create new Iphone
4. Setup synching options as you normally would, BUT, On first synch, choose to replace calendars and contacts with the information on your Mac.
5. Reload apps to iphone from app store you had previously purchased, and or downloaded for free.
6. You will have to setup phone favorites and ringtones, and settings on your apps, but well worth the trouble.

That's it. Made a huge difference
