MacBook Pro can't see Airport network but three other macs in house can

Very strange. I can connect my three iMacs (G3, G5 PowerPC and G5 Intel) to my Airport Extreme Network, but my MacBook Pro can no longer see the Network, and Airport utility (from MacBook Pro) cannot see the Airport base station (although other macs' Airport Utility can no problem). My MacBook pro can see 4 other networks (my neighbours' networks). Doesn't seem to be a problem with my MacBook Pro airport card as I can connect to the (non-Mac) wireless network at work with no problem. Am really confused (not the first time)!

Installed the latest Airport Extreme firmware last week, which was the start of the problem, as I then lost the ability to connect to my Virgin Media Broadband digital TV box, necessitating Virgin engineer visiting at weekend to connect a cable modem to the cable tv box, to which the Airport Extreme station is now attached. Had problems connecting my MacBook Pro last night, but eventually managed it. All other macs connect seamlessly. Am stumped.

Mine does not seem to be a interference problem. I can get access from my macbook anywhere in the house but the imac doesn't "see" the airport at all. I have tried factory reset, setting it to different channels all to no avail. other than now the PC doesn't see the airport either.
Anyone found a solution?

mac book keeps asking me if I want to update airport software - NO! I suspect that was the start of all of this with the imac.

These are the exact same "error" message I was receiving.

I am now up & running wirelessly in OS 10.5.4. But, what I did was Cat5 my MBP to the Airport. I sat in front of the AP, opened AU, set it to operate only in 802.11n at 5GHz (re: an earlier post), then disconnected the cable & went downstairs to my usual work location. I then opened the AU again; just fine. At present everything is running normally.

However, after reading your post I'm going to disable the firewall & see if the configd & Responder messages go away. If so, then I'll add the lines you suggested and see what effect that has.

I think your conclusions may finally be the solution!

Thanks to all for the help!!
