iPhone 3G LAGGY!

I think I've solved it from reading threads and messing about with settings.

Try this

1, Soft reset as described in other mails.
2, Go to Settings and turn off Location Services and Push then set Fetch to manual.
3, Press the Home button

Contacts and scrolling should then be smooth and flawless just like in the good ole days of iPhone 1.0

Great fix except for one thing- why have a 3G iphone if it can't do push, GPS, etc.? The only way to get Apple to act is for everyone here to go to the Apple feedback and report their bugs as they do not pay attention to the forums. The more people complain about the lag, the more likely it will get a quick bug fix. It only takes a second. Go to:

Then select bug reports.

Does not work for me. It still freezes when opening lengthy text messages (which would be understandable - only it didn't freeze with 1.1.4)

Doing a soft reset helped tremendously. Lots of things seems snappier now. Especially pulling up the contacts list. I wonder if there is a way to debug and figure out which apps might be leaking or taking up other resources causing problems?

Apple doesn't allow tasks to run in the background, so in theory as long as you're in your contact list or SMS app then no resources whatsoever should be used by 3rd party apps. When I reset my phone, and then open SMS straight away, it's just as slow as it was before I restarted.
