Maximum number of apps on iphone? (home screens not memory)
Is there a maximum number of apps that the iphone can install? I'm not referring to available memory, but actual space where they "live" in the phone. In other words, you can fill up to 7 pages, or however many pages, of icons. So if I have more apps purchased & downloaded from the app store than the 7 page capacity, will they install? If so, where? Are the apps accessible any where else within the phone other than the home screens?
It's not the point if there are 144 apps worth having, it's more if there should be a limitation in pages. And who decides to have a maximum, Apple or the user.
I'm a firm believer in the judgement of the user. If he wants to have more apps, he should be able to have and use them, whether I or someone else think they are useful or not.
Randy, once upon a time there was a famous someone who didn't see why on earth anybody might need more than 64KB of RAM in a PC... maybe there's a reason why the free world doesn't have a central committee deciding what's useful, nice, desirable and what not... let me (and the market) decide, we're grown ups 😉
for the sake of discussion, many "apps" are very simple, sometimes you need a couple of similar apps to get all the features you want. I also like to keep web shortcuts as icons (had to delete most of them now), and then I'd like to keep things orgnized, so having "pages" is like having folders on your HD
the iPhone is a severely limited mobile phone, the reasons why I accept far worse features (and app functionality) than I have on my Nokia phones are the style, the doubling as iPod, the big touchscreen and the wealth of inexpensive (sometimes also silly) apps
start taking something away, and design/style turns out to be the only thing left... too little for such an expensive gadget (and apple had better add some critical features soon, or it will lose all the advantage it built on competitors very soon)
