Sideways texting!!!!!!

Well just to be contrary....I don't understand why people want it so much! When you bring up a keyboard in landscape there's almost no screen left to see, and it's harder to hold the device that way while texting.

I don't see why the option isn't there. When you bring up the land scape keyboard in safari there is still about 1/3 of the screen visible for text, more than enough for sms since the font is pretty small. I don't see why we can't have the option, samsung instinct does it, just another baffling choice by Apple.

Then why offer a landscape mode in Safari. Content in Safari is "rich" which means it often needs extra space to display (ie. pictures, etc), whereas text in a text message is just... text. You can read most text messages on a line or two, and there's even a scrollable region for the SMS app so you can scroll while you're replying.

If you're right and that's the reason they haven't given us a landscape keyboard for text messages, then they shouldn't have given us one for Safari either!

The rich content in Safari isn't exactly relevant, since any time you're using the keyboard in Safari, it zooms in to just the text-entry field, more or less. There's no zooming, and really no need for it, in SMS.

Even so, I remain in favor of landscape SMS text entry, because of my fat thumbs 😉

iPhone has NEVER had sideways typing component in e-mail or SMS......

This is one of those inexplainable things. You'd think it'd be fairly easy to implement, yet Apple refuses to do it.

I can't see how anyone would not want this capability.

That would be awesome because then you'd be much less likely to type an error and hesitate less in texting and writing emails (at least for me).

That's probably the reason that they don't have landscape mode for texting.

I'd love to see this feature on the iPhone, I'm going to send a feedback request off now.

For a text message, you'd really only need one or two lines anyway. And it's not harder to hold, it's easier.

That's what I've been waiting for apple to see if they can give us that option. I think it's way easier to text sideways. They probably don't want to copy the sidekick.

I personally don't like the landscape keyboard.. I prefer it upright.

I am one for the landscape text and email.
Find it easier.
