Sideways texting!!!!!!

Why doesn't the iphone text(SMS) keyboard turn sideways like the way it does in safari?
I think it would be a good idea for apple to look into...
I think its 100 times easier to text horizontally rather than vertically.!
What do you think?

Because it would be an option. Your preference would be portrait others would prefer landscape. Many of the screens already have this option available now.

I want it because I have fat thumbs: the narrow keyboard in vertical mode is too tiny for me to use reliably

I know, but that's what I'm saying - going by the same logic (lack of screen space), then the same would apply to Safari.

I agree... I would like to see the sideways typing and the ability to cut and paste within emails....
