iPhone wifi not working

Ok so as of two days ago, my iphone has had major difficulties finding wifi networks, let alone connecting onto any of them. I live in an apartment complex and normally my iPhone shows a list of around 20 different networks, but now my phone sees none of them. I can even lay my phone on top of my router, and still nothing. Earlier today I passed by an Apple store, and my phone couldn't even pickup the free wifi there. I have already tried resetting my network settings to default on my iPhone, restored my iPhone, and still nothing.

Anybody else having this problem?

Thanks in advance.

SWFIII,
Thanks so much for your suggestion! Solved my problem too. I have a 2G iPhone that worked fine for a looong time with iPhone OS 2.3.1. Until today, that is. I finally updated to 3.1.3 and WiFi was immediately dead. I tried resetting the network settings and power cycling the phone several times. No good. I tried restoring to a "clean" version of 3.1.3 and that failed too. eWiFi only said "Wifi is off or disconnected."

I read your suggestion, Googled "iPhone firmware," and grabbed version 3.1.nada. I restored to that and my iPhone's WiFi's back! This is CLEARLY a software issue. Are you listening Apple????

Seems that we all fail to read the postings. There are tons of iphones on 3.x.x that fail to find and connect to wifi networks. No resetting, on/off, blah bla blah works. This is a fact and has been due to a software change. Now, no fix consistantly works, except the cool it down (freezer) method, which indicates that it is a software induced hardware issue. The hardware issue was there all the time for the failing phones, but a change in software made it surface on the 3.x.x OS. The only hack I can think of is disabling the process or function that is overheating the wifi chip, any ideas in this area? Hopefully Apple will rework or remove the change that is causing this problem soon, otherwise, only the warranty will help you....

I have the 'no wifi' problem too on my 18 month old iphone 3G. Took it to genius bar and genius told me my phone had been in water and the wifi antenna had corroded. Told me that iphone could continue to degrade and offered me a refurbished model at £140. My phone has never been in contact with water. Genius claimed to be unaware of the hundreds of instances of iphones loosing wifi around the world. Lack of any information from Apple re this issue is telling. I feel it is a scam to get iphone 3G replaced with 3GS. I will live without wifi for now.

My iPhone can't detect my home's Wi-Fi for about a week now..
It can detect the Hotspots, but not my home's Wi-Fi..
I thought the problem is in my Router, but my father's iPhone's Wi-Fi can work smoothly..
Sometimes, when I get lucky, it detects my Wi-Fi, but gets disconnected in an hour or so..
So, how do I fix the problem?
Mine is the Original iPhone 3.1.2

Since my phone is OOW (Out Of Warranty), I was without WIFI for weeks. Tried upgrading the OS to the latest (3.13), but it did not work.
I found the below solution on the WEB.
It worked for me.
1. Settings
2. General
3. Reset…
4. Reset Network Settings

Thank you so much, that did the trick! Lucky I read this post before embarking on a full software restore or visit to the shop...

My iPhone 3GS suddenly didn't detect any WiFi networks anymore starting last week. Reset network settings restored WiFi. Thanks again.

Rolled back the firmware to 3.1 and I have Wi-Fi again. 3.1.3 broke the Wi-Fi on my iPhone 2G, but not my 3G.

I'll happily sit on 3.1 for now.

Spoke too soon. Wi-Fi WAS working 100%. Now it is coming in and out (which is how this problem started). Maybe I'll try to go to 3.1.3 on a different computer...

Updated to 3.1.3 from 3.1 rollback and Wi-Fi is back. Feels VERY fast. We'll see if it lasts...

Well well well, I just wrote my complains about the WiFi problem in their 500 miles long topic named "Strange WiFi problem after 3.0 update' or something similar. The idea is that the topic was very very long, the longest discussed about the problem, where all the people joind hands and cried on each other's shoulder about Apple's ingnorance concerning the WiFi problem.

*The topic no longer exists!!!!*
What happend to the freedom of speech? Censor?

Great, Apple! Thanks! I was even following the topic's evolution for months (since my WiFi broke out) and now, probably due to the BIG number of complains, decided to be silenced. Lovely. You just helped me make my decissions concerning your products.
