iPhone wifi not working

PhilbyES, this is the issue that many of the people are seeing here and I continue to see. 4-5 times a week my device will get stuck unable to find my home (Apple Time Capsule) or telling me I have entered the wrong password.

There is a software bug clearly, reseting the device, network settings or your router does not seem to resolve the issue for me either.

Ah! It's okay! I am in fact an idiot. I found a different password and entered that in and it has gone and worked.

This has happened to me on a few occassions, My home wifi will get as shown connected then I get message incorrect password.
I go into my router and re enter my password.Switch off and back on iphone then connect.
There must be bug in latest software

Since my phone is OOW (Out Of Warranty), I was without WIFI for weeks. Tried upgrading the OS to the latest (3.13), but it did not work.
I found the below solution on the WEB.
It worked for me.
1. Settings
2. General
3. Reset…
4. Reset Network Settings

FYI this became a problem for me well before 3.1.3. This happened to me a long time after 3.1.2 was released. Performing the update on the firmware did not help or hinder.

Here is a post from a guy who had the wifi problem and fixed it by resetting his router channel and also switching from g/b to b only. Maybe it will work for you.

My 3G does not see any wifi regardless if I'm at home, work, starbucks, anywhere. It scans and returns no results. I've tried all of the fixes suggested here and nothing had worked for me. I've also tried eWiFi (free) and WiFiFoFum (2.99) and neither had any luck finding a wifi signal.

I don't remember when wifi stopped working but I'm pretty certain it's been at least the last 2 months now.

Yes, My Wifi does not work for numerous places on different wifi broadcasts (a/b/g/n).

I have a 1 gen iphone on 3.1.2

Wifi stopped working shortly after I upgraded to 3.1.2.

I thought it was hardware.

Then I did some snooping and turned off Push Email. Wifi now works perfectly for me. Seems to be a heat issue - Push email hogs the iphone CPU - generating heat, which somehow interferes with Wifi.

This is interesting...I also moved away from Push (for battery reasons) a month or so ago and noticed that my WIFI has been working again. I am going to turn it back on and see if it starts to go away more often as well.

I had 3G and gave it to my wife when I bought a 3GS. No problem with the 3GS but the 3G can't connect to wifi since...last february.

I came to the conclusion that this is a hardware problem mainly because of the freezer trick. The only thing that changes when you freeze a metal is to shrink it. My wife's 3G must have a faulty connector somewhere in the wifi circuit that fixes when you freeze the phone. Because I know and tried it already, that when I put the phone in the freezer for 4-5 minutes wifi works for 2-3 minutes.

And I don't think apple is not aware of this issue...we are a bunch of users and found solutions with trial & error and they don't know what's the problem?? Yeah...rightttttt!!!

My problem got resolved when I updated the firmware of my WiFi router. Apparently the iPhone speaks a specific dialect of WiFi that is a problem as other WiFi devices were able to connect just fine before the firmware update.

My Router is a La Fonera 2.0n updating to firmware 2.3.5 solves the issues with the iPhone.

If your phone works on SOME wifi networks and not on others == it's likely NOT your phone's problem.

It might be the wifi router that you are using and you need to "burp" it. The problem of connecting might be with all of your wifi devices or it just might apply to your phone and or laptop or whatever.

The fix: unplug (power) the router. count to 10. plug the router back in.

Don't go all anal or geeky, just a simple little power off and on.

I run 5- 10 wireless devices on my router at a time and find it gets clogged with the addressing and some or all of my devices will then slow to a crawl or not go beyond to the internet. I get stuck at local network ONLY.

Another problem I've had at one time or another is that devices will fail to get the new address from the router whenever it decides to readdress itself which I think it does daily. I've had some laptops, print servers and the iphone suddenly not be able to connect to the internet. Turn the phone off completely and then turn it back on and that should work.
