iPhone wifi not working

Ok so as of two days ago, my iphone has had major difficulties finding wifi networks, let alone connecting onto any of them. I live in an apartment complex and normally my iPhone shows a list of around 20 different networks, but now my phone sees none of them. I can even lay my phone on top of my router, and still nothing. Earlier today I passed by an Apple store, and my phone couldn't even pickup the free wifi there. I have already tried resetting my network settings to default on my iPhone, restored my iPhone, and still nothing.

Anybody else having this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Ok now this is getting freaky, after my last post where after the freezer episode my iphone slowly dropped the wifi network then couldn't see it at all it suddenly returned. Note I had gone back to 3.12 (again) before the freezer thing so after hanging onto the wifi connection for about 15 mins I tempted fate and upgraded to 4.01 again. And yup, the wifi is working. The only difference between this and the last 4.01 upgrade is about an hour in the freezer. So I'm stumped, there is no logic to this at all. I have spent nearly two weeks without wireless and now it seems stable. If it falls over again I'll repost but fingers crossed.

I had my 3G for about 18 months now, and all of a sudden, wifi started acting up.
It doesn't see any network.
Tried 4.0, 4.0.1, downgraded to 3.1.3, then back to 4.0.1.
Tried network reset many times, restore, restore as new phone, and all that stuff that I could find online.
Freezer trick works only until phone comes back to normal temperature.
Today, this freezer trick didn't work either.
I guess it finally gave up.

So I opened up the case, took out the PCB, backed it in oven as suggested,
about 9 minutes...
I got my wifi back as of now and will report back if I lose it again.

This oven bake thing really works!!!

Wifi signal is as good as my wife's 3G and my brother's 4G.

I guess apple store need to purchase small oven and teach genius crew how to cook.

Thanks simpleServe for your wonderful instructions and pictures, as well as saving me $199 for another crappy phone.

(My next phone won't be iphone btw....)

You're welcome ttbbsolid

The post here http://www.iphonetiquicia.com/iphone-wifi-oven-trick/ says 7 minutes. I have never tried 9 minutes but it's good to hear the feedback. Did you go 385F?

As a side note, it is possible the freezer trick may have stopped working because the fissures where exacerbated by placing a hot phone in the freezer (rapid cooling). Rapid temp changes can be worse for electronics than heat problem trying to be solved. My next question is if you noticed that your iPhone runs cooler now that you baked it or is it running about the same temp?

Thanks, glad you fixed your iPhone!

For everyone else, this fix is ONLY if the problem is caused by fissured solder joints. It doesn't fix anything else.

Hi simpleserve.
I did go with 385F.
I just did 9 minutes cause I used thick metal plate for tray.
Since it blocks a lot of heat, I thought it will take some extra time for heat to get to PCB.
I can't confirm running cooler dice I didn't measure temperature before.
But so far, with extensive 3G usage, it's not as hot as before.

My wife thought I went crazy cooking my phone at 12:00am midnight.

I received my iPhone 4 and noticed that after setting up a WiFi network with the passphrase to the router, I didn't have any trouble.

Now, however, I'm using it on a campus network (it requires authentication to log in and the campus VPN is crap so I don't use it) and my WiFi sputters a TON. On and off, on and off. Sometimes I have the WiFi signal icon but my Apps say there's no connection (and I believe the Apps, not a stupid notification icon). I turn off 3G/Edge when at work and at home because I like to save on my data usage, but the WiFi sometimes just requires me to completely restart my iPhone 4. It's SO annoying!

Bug fixes? Please Apple?

Oh, and I just recently started using my iPhone to make calls... that being said, I can finally agree with everyone else: AT&T ***** when it comes to dropped calls. Like, really, really *****. At least they got texting right... and my case did fix the antenna problem... but the WiFi is still my biggest problem! v_v

i can confirm the freezer trick bloody WORKS. I have a 3G with 4.0.2. The bloody wireless stopped working AT ALL 2 weeks ago. I tried everything. i restored it from scratch. still wireless wouldn't work. Just now, I put the thing in a freezing cold freezer (yeah, you'd expect a freezer to be cold) for 12 minutes. And then the bloody wireless worked again! But only for about 10 minutes. So, I did it again. This time for 20 minutes...
